We were highly disappointed with this hotel. Our room was located in the attic, and unless you’re under 5'4", you’ll constantly be bumping your head due to the sloped ceiling and lack of headroom. The bed and pillows were extremely hard and uncomfortable. I was traveling with my sister, and to our surprise, there was no bathroom door — meaning one of us had to leave the room whenever the other needed to shower or use the toilet. After we complained, they eventually gave us a makeshift wooden divider, but that’s not what was advertised on Hotels.com. The room was poorly maintained: the paint was peeling, an electrical outlet in the hallway was completely open (a serious safety hazard), and the refrigerator didn’t work. Cleanliness was lacking throughout. The “shampoo” came in tiny ketchup-style packets, the towels were rough and old, and there were no towel bars in the bathroom. The window in the room was an 8" porthole (see photo) Breakfast was mediocre at best — stale pastries and little variety. Overall, this property does not match its online description and needs significant improvement in comfort, safety, and maintenance.

This hotel is a hidden gem! The breakfast is possibly one of the biggest (with the most variety) we’ve ever experienced. Conveniently located and close to the main attractions and streets! The staff were superb, so attentive.

A very unique property with very helpful staff and a charming vibe. They stored a bag for me while I met friends to sail for 8 days, and it was waiting for me in my room when I returned. Great breakfast. Easy walk to a train station, close to the main tourist area but not in the middle of it. Highly recommended.

I came with my sister for 4 days , the staff were so kind and absolutely amazing! The breakfast is sooo good they give you plenty of choice. Our room was great and very spacious! Aircon worked like a dream and the location and pool is also great!

The staff was excellent. As a group, the nicest staff I have ever experienced. The room was extraordinarily clean. Location was excellent near the cathedral. Lots of motorbikes but with the windows closed not much of an issue. Plus the food in Parma is better than the food where you are including the breakfast at the hotel which was a feast of Sicilian fruits and charcuterie.

An genuine boutique hotel, the staff couldnt of been more helpful. The breakfasts are outstanding and gluten free can be accommodated if you let them know in advance. I wouldnt hesitate in recommending porta di castro for anyone looking for something out of the ordinary.

The staff at this hotel were excellent! They proactively engaged with me before the trip to ensure everything was in order and to see if I needed any help. They answered all my questions prior to arrival and they arranged airport transportation after our stay. They were also attentive offering water to us whenever we returned (it was very hot in Palermo during our stay). The restaurant they recommended was excellent mom and pop place (not a tourist trap) about a 10 minute walk. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and perfect for our family of four. The pictures of the hotel are accurate. The decor was unique, one of a kind. It’s a unique hotel with history, character, and charm. If in Palermo again, this is where we will stay.
