Perfect hotel to end our trip to Japan!

Everything about Onomichi Club was exquisite. The location, the views, the cafe, the restaurant the baths and the room. This was our last stop on our 10 day trip to Japan and it was the perfect spot to end in. I highly recommend it!

The staff was corteous and helpful but I do not recommebd the hotel because it's located on top of a hill, making it very inconvenient if you want to get food outside of the hotel. The taxi ride from Onomichi JR station costs about JPY1,300 each way, so if you want to go down to the streets to explore and eat you will have to pay about JPY2,600 for the round trip. What really shocked me was the hotel breakfast. It costs JPY2,200 and at that price you would expect to be full but there was tiny amount of food (one thumbnail size bit of fish, one tiny piece of omelette, and very small varieties of condiments plus a bowl of rice and miso soup. I had visited an upscale onsen in Uno (by Naoshima island) and the sumptuous lunch set there cost JPY2,100 with so much delicious seasonal food, making me feel deprived by the breakfast set at the Onomichi Club. Again, the staff was very nice but this hotel has poor value for the money. I should have stayed at the Green Hill hotel right by the JR Onomichi station.

Great place to stay in Onimichi

Fabulous hotel. Think it had only just re-opened post a change of ownership and total refurbishment so was spotless. Rooms were very large for Japan with amazing views across the harbour to the sea. Lots of very helpful staff. Lovely rooftop bar (they gave us a voucher for a free drink when we checked in!) and breakfast was very tasty although traditional Japanese i.e. rice, miso, vegetables and rice. Walkable down to the town/harbour but it's a quite a big hill / lots of steps coming back!

What a wonderful spot! The hotel is brand new foyer a full on redesign and opened on 3/31/2025. Amazing place at the top of the hill, very nice staff, and what a rooftop bar! We lov d it and extended our stay.

Gran experiencia y sorpresa…. Desde el lugar donde está el hotel, junto a un jardín con cerezos, y junto al museo… hasta el check out…. todo fue espectacular, la habitación es muy amplia y agradable, decorada con algunos detalles que sólo acentúan la impresionante vista que tienes desde el ventanal de tu habitación! Es realmente hermosa… Un bar en el 3er piso con terraza, muy agradable y personal que habla varios idiomas, algo que agradecí enormemente… Su Onsen, hermoso, muy bien iluminado. Sin dudarlo volvería. Viajo constantemente y es difícil sorprenderme….lo lograron! Me encantó todo.

千光寺の桜まつりに合わせて利用させてもらいました。今回はエコノミーツインです。 宿までの道が、時期によって一方通行になる事に注意してください。 文字通り千光寺の目と鼻の先にあります。坂の上にありますので、足腰・体力に難がある人は夕食朝食を同時に予約したほうがいいかもしれません。更に、お祭りの時はタクシーを捕まえにくくなると地元の方が仰っておりました。 お出迎えと同時に手荷物を持っていただくことを想定しておらず、予約した宿で合っているか不安になりました。バイクはガレージに止めることができました。夜中に雨が降ってもへっちゃらです。 ウェルカムドリンクがいい香りの和紅茶で、僕は口に合いました。尾道倶楽部専用の物だそうで、非売品と聞いて残念に思った程です。 各室は鍵解錠式です。キーホルダーの半分が金ローの映写機の所で出てくるあの枠になっています。あれで室内を撮影するのも一興です。 室内唯一の開口が千光寺側に計画されており、ロケーションが特に最高です。千光寺側から室内の人の動きがばっちり見える位大きいです。ファーストコンタクトの際に廊下で思わず歓声をあげてしまいました。一人で独占する。なんと贅沢なことか。 アメニティは必要なものを各自自室に持っていく方式です。ボディタオルも有って助かりました。煎茶、はちみつ紅茶等のティーバッグが用意されていました。 3Fにいい雰囲気のバーがあります。地元の企業とタイアップしたカクテルを提供していました。ソフトドリンク・ノンアルカクテルもあります。今回は広島シトラスを頼みました。バタフライピーの甘さと、柑橘系の香りの良さとちょっと独特なあの苦みがマッチします。30手前で初めてバーと云うものを体験し、大人の階段を一つ登った気分です。 夕食はチェックイン時に渡されたQRコードを元に、坂の下の小料理屋さんにお邪魔しました。 僕がお酒を控えているため、料理だけの注文になりましたが快く受けていただきました。親子丼、鯛の子煮、タラの芽の天麩羅、アジの刺身、どれも大当たりでした。良いところが紹介されていました。 普段はこういう遠出の時はキャンプするのですが、今回はここの宿を取って大正解でした。来年も仕事をほっぽってでも桜を見に行った際に利用したいと思えました。
