The Original Marshmellow! Spacious Ocracoke beach house in the quiet Jackson Dunes neighborhood. Marsh views, large front deck, and two screened porches. House was one of the most popular rentals for over 25 years, now selectively rented through VRBO only. Reverse floor plan with large open space on the top floor. Stainless kitchen appliances, gas stove, and the best stocked kitchen you'll find. 65" TV in living room, with smart TVs in all bedrooms as well. Starlink satellite internet for fast, problem-free downloads, streaming, and browsing. Owner converted one bedroom into a well-equipped home gym, featuring plenty of weights, bands, bars, bells, and benches. House also features a 4-person golf cart, provided sheets and towels, Webber grill, Hatteras hammock, outdoor shower, bicycles, helmets, and spacious flat backyard. New driveway, walk-in shower, porch screens. Fish cleaning bench, rods, coolers, and chairs for your beach trips. The MarshMellow may be the perfect place to stay in Ocracoke. The location is great. Not far from the busy village waterfront but in a much quieter neighborhood. The house comes with a golf cart which is almost a necessity. Based on the rental prices on the island, out saves you about 125 per day to use the one that comes with the house. The house is stocked for your every need. Derek has thought of everything. The kitchen is truly a chef's kitchen. We had a great time cooking there. The grill is fantastic. There is one bathroom for each bedroom. The house was great for four people but would also be great for 6. The outdoor shower was perfect after a day at the beach. If we had been there longer we would have used the bikes. We did make use of the beach chairs at the beach. Derek also made sure to please ask types of coffee drinkers. While we love the Ocracoke coffee places, we only went out for coffee once because we had plenty of coffee options at the MarshMellow. He even had multiple toasters which was great to accommodate one of our companions who is gluten free. We could all eat toast at the same time and keep one toaster gluten free. We love The MarshMellow and Derek is just an exceptional host. We hope to be back again.

It rained every day! Everyone ENJOYED the ring game on one of the porches..

GReat house!! A couple of us have health issues and the steps created a problem. The kitchen was well equipped. Labels on the doors might have been helpful.

Fly-in Friendly for W95 airport

The owner of the house, Derek, was very helpful in answering all our questions about the area. He was happy to provide transportation from W95 airport to the house for our arrival and departure. At the house, you have access to a 4 person golf cart and bikes to help you get around the village part of the island. We used both and it was great! The house is exactly as the pictures show and what is written. Comfortable beds and fantastic screened in porches to relax with a bench swing. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need during your stay, including a grill on the front porch and grill tools. This neighborhood is so peaceful and quiet. A great place to have a family vacation for our first visit to Ocracoke. We will definitely be back and hope to stay here again!

Perfect Ocracoke Rental

Wonderful home on our favorite island! Everything, including comfy bedding, top notch kitchen, solitude, marsh views, beach gear, fish cleaning area, bikes, and of course the golf cart made our family’s Ocracoke vacation the best it could be. The host was extremely responsive and helpful. We even had a chance to get our puppies together for visit! Will definitely stay here again!

Location was great. Loved that this rental was all inclusive, everything from linens, beach towels and chairs, bikes, and golf cart. The property manager was very responsive and accommodating. We were able to bring our two dogs which was another big plus. The only suggestion that we have is that the cushions in the sofa and chair in the living room area need firmer filling but that is not a big issue considering all that this house has to offer. Everything else was perfect and we have reservations for next summer.

Marshmallow had everything we needed! It was beautifully decorated and had spaces to tuck away and relax. We had friends in town and gathered every morning and night to eat together. The gym was amazing, helped me stay on track during my vacation. The bikes and golf cart were so appreciated and used everyday. Loved this home and would stay again!

60th Birthday Trip

My best friend and I spent a week at Marshmellow, we enjoyed every aspect of our trip, especially the house which had everything you could possibly need for a comfortable week away. I even got to bring my dog! We enjoyed a quiet week away, spent every day on the beach, enjoyed great restaurants all based out of this great VRBO! A few of our favorite aspects of the home, the included golf cart, the screened in porches, the porch swing, the hammock, to name just a few. Maybe we can come back for another birthday soon!

Best of Ocracoke

Siblings reunited at our favorite vacation spot in US. Back in the 60’s and 70’s we camped. This week in 2025 when we met at we stayed in luxury compared to the camping days. There was plenty of room to spread out and all of our necessities were met! Kitchen appliances were all wonderful and we loved having a golf cart to get around town. No complaints except an elevator would have been great for us old folks, although that’s asking a bit much. We highly recommend Marshmellow and the very personable owner Derek!

This place is excellent; it lives up to the online pictures. Great neighborhood. The decks and screened in porch are great too. The golf cart is a great extra that saves you money. On my next trip to Ocracoke, I will try to stay here again.

Ocracoke Perfection

We had a wonderful time at this property in Ocracoke! The location was wonderfully quiet and peacful, offering the perfect getaway. We especially loved having access to a golf cart and bikes, which made exploring fun and easy. The property was spotlessly clean and the screened in back porch was a great spot to relax in the evenings. Remarkable

The house was as, if not better, than the listing. The house was immaculate yet very homey. All of the appliances and amenities were up to date and worked well. Everything I needed was stocked. The view from the decks were very nice. The availability of a golf cart was also a huge plus. The host was very nice and easy to contact. I must admit I messed up my move in date and called him to admit my error. He was so helpful and allowed me to check in a little early after the house had been cleaned. I will definitely book book this Marshmallow again next year!

Great place to stay

My family and I enjoyed our stay at this house during our trip to Ocracoke. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and it was convenient to everything in the village. The screened in decks and porches allowed us to have dinner outside and enjoy the nice weather and the views of the island. I would highly recommend it and I look forward to staying there again when we return to Ocracoke.

Amazing VRBO, great town

Derek has a wonderful home on Ocracoke with many amenities. We were happy to be able to bring our dogs along with us, and the neighborhood was great for some peace and quiet as well as running. We loved sitting out in the screened in porch as well as soaking in the sun on the front deck. Having access to a golf cart was also a pleasant surprise that we enjoyed when we didn't want to necessarily take our car to a spot in town. All around we thoroughly enjoyed getting to stay here, Derek was responsive with messages, and we look forward to booking again!

Perfect for a weekend away

The house fit our needs perfectly! (My husband, two 11 year old girls and my parents) The house was clean and nicely decorated. Tons of decks to enjoy the outside! Having a golf cart is an added bonus and the girls loved taking rides throughout the weekend. Kitchen was stocked with everything you could need! We are looking forward to coming back here again, and would definitely recommend staying here to others.

We love marshmallow

Unless you have your own plane when you visit ocracoke you want to stay for a while! (It’s my nice way of saying it’s hard to get to) so we were able to spend 5 nights and spread out in this terrific house. The kitchen was spotless and so well equipped (I’d never in a million years use all the kitchen stuff) porches were picturesque. We went everywhere on the golf cart! So great. My husband was actually comfortable in the bed!! Phew!

Great place on Ocracoke!

Perfect spot for a long weekend with family. Golf cart was a bonus! The porches and decks had great views of the marsh. Very well appointed kitchen. Looking forward to returning.
