THIS IS NOT A BOUTIQUE HOTEL. This is an old Econo Lodge hotel they are passing off as a boutique hotel.
The good. The room was clean. The area had a few good restaurants within a 5 minute walking distance.
The Expedia listing says Aurelia Oceanside Hotel. When I arrived, no where did it say Aurelia Hotel. There was a banner outside the wall of the hotel that says Avenida Hotel and a giant sign visible from the freeway that says Econo Lodge.
During the check in process, I was told they only take cash for the deposit because their credit card machine is down. Check in guy was fine but definitely no real hospitality was given and I wasn't happy about having to pull $100 from their ATM either. I asked if there will be someone at 6am to get my deposit back as I would be out early and was told yes. The room was clean and overall fine however, there were a bunch of paint splotches from where the painting was not completed. When I went to check out the next morning at 6am, No one appeared to be at the lobby. After ringing their bell and calling several times, someone finally came out from the back and told me I couldn't get my deposit back until after 9am when I was previously told different. I had to leave and come back later for the deposit which was an inconvenience. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you have no other options. No hospitality and check in and check out process was not good.
