The Downeast Deckhouse is a beautiful Mid-Century home located in the beautiful village of Somesville. This central location allows guests to travel the island easily, all while experiencing the best of Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. The home is well-appointed and features new furnishings, a fully stocked kitchen and updated decor. The outdoor space is just as inviting as the inside, with seasonal views of Sargent Mountain from the deck and firepit area!
The Space:
The home features a large and open living, dining and kitchen area. The living area offers several couches with ample sitting room, a 75" television and direct access to the deck from the sliding glass doors.
The kitchen is fully stocked and has all of the tools you need to prepare meals. Coffee is also provided!
On the main level, guests will find a full bath with tub and shower, one king bedroom and one queen bedroom.
On the lower level, guests will find a second living area, which is perfect for relaxing or playing games! The lower level also offers a full bathroom, a queen bedroom, a bedroom with two twins and a pull out couch.

We all loved the house… it was great to cook together and hang out in the large living room after dinner. We all slept well… great mattresses!The location is perfect for anywhere you want to go… we hiked everyday in a different area and would get back to the house each time in only a few minutes.The house is full of sun light and it was lovely to watch the sun come up over the mountains with our morning coffee.The only thing we didn’t enjoy was the noise from the road bellow the house… it made it unpleasant to sit out on the deck.With that said, we would still return to this house again… easily!!

We had 7 people from our family in the home and fit perfectly. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals and there were lots of other great homey touches like throw blankets, playing cards and games on the shelves. The fire pit was set up for us and I even found matches and flashlights in the kitchen cabinet which were a huge help. This was a great location for getting to Acadia quickly each day and I’m so happy that we chose this home for our vacation.

Spacious and comfortable with great location
The property was spacious and comfortable. The lower level layout provides privacy from those on the upper level. We appreciated the fully equipped kitchen. The road noise was unexpected when outside or with windows open. Very quiet inside when doors and windows were shut. The location was great. Easy access to all of MDI and Acadia.

Short drive to Acadia or Bar Harbor. Tucked back from road, with fire pit. We saw deer and had a wonderful stay.
