Deceptive "Club Access" Marketing — Left 2 Days EarlyWe cut our vacation short by two days, forfeited our money, and went home because this rental heavily misleads guests. While the condo is very nice, the property hides a distinctly hostile environment. Before management responds that the pool or gym aren't explicitly checked in the amenities list: the description heavily sells "access to this private club" to justify its premium rates. In reality, VRBO guests are treated as unwelcome interlopers. The resort’s GM rudely, publicly ordered us out of the fitness center. He explicitly stated he has an ongoing feud with Sea Island (who rents the only unit here) because they refuse to disclose to renters that the gym and pool are strictly off-limits. Being humiliated over their internal communication failure completely ruined our trip.Furthermore, this place is entirely isolated—40 minutes from any town, restaurants, or groceries. We arrived on a Tuesday to find a total ghost town; the entire club locks down on Mondays and Tuesdays. This 48-hour operational blackout was never disclosed in the listing. The resort went bankrupt around 2015 and is now run almost exclusively for permanent owners. The vibe toward outside renters is overtly condescending from both staff and residents. Do not pay premium rates to be caught in the crossfire of an ongoing war between a negligent rental company and a hostile resort manager. Avoid this listing.
