The Pianelle Resort in heart of Sassi Caveoso was so convenient to so many sites and restaurants nearby. The view as well immediately at the doorstep was breathtaking. The room was spacious and luxurious with exposed stone walls and ceilings which provided an immersive experience if staying in the caves of Matera. The breakfast options too were delicious and highlighted the local produce and cuisine. We had an amazing 2 nights and would definitely return.

The Pianelle Resort is beautiful and is in a great location in Matera, with many restaurants and attractions easily walkable from there. The rooms are spacious, beautiful and very unique. Shuttle service from a parking garage is easy, so visitors should not be concerned about not being able to park at the resort. The front office staff was great and their recommendations of restaurants and tours were spot-on. The morning breakfast was excellent with plenty of delicious options. We highly recommend.

Excellent stay in matera. In a quiet part of the historic center. Walkable everywhere and close to the hiking trail. Excellent breakfast and the staff is outstanding. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful hotel, friendly helpful staff. Delicious strong cocktails on the roof top terrace at sunset! The breakfast was tasty but could do with more frequent replenishing the buffet options. Definitely worth taking up the parking and transfer option given the steep hills and cobbled streets that are very atmospheric but take a bit of puff to navigate!

Absolutely beautifully designed resort hotel. Villa rooms are very clean and private with 5 star amenities (shower robes, slippers, tea station with private bar). Location was the best to view and quickly access Matera rich food culture and history. Staff was very professional and friendly and always asked if we needed anything. We had the privilege to meet the husband and wife owners. They were very nice and even gave us a special lucky #17 parting gift. Thank you for a memorable stay.

Beautiful stay, with 10/10 service. We cannot recommend this hotel enough. The location was perfect, with views of the duomo, church and valley below. The hotel itself is designed in a contemporary finish but stills pays homage to its incredible history. Lastly the true highlight was the staff, from reception to the bar to the cleaners, everyone was so welcoming, kind and friendly! We would 100% stay again!! Beyond 5* service!
