This renovated seven-bedroom/six-bathroom mansion was built by the Biltmore's supervising resident and completing architect, Richard Sharp Smith. A short walk from charming, walkable Marshall, NC on the French Broad River with its cafes, restaurants, shops and brewery, and only 25-minutes from downtown Asheville, the Marshall House Inn is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Marshall House Inn is conveniently located between Asheville and Hot Springs. You will be a short drive from the music of Asheville, the Appalachian Trail and the Great Smokies in the middle of the Blue Ridge mountains. Whether you want to take in the breweries, galleries or shops of Asheville, visit the Biltmore House, spend time outdoors or just relax, you’ll not find a better location from which to start. With over 55,000 acres of National forest you’ll find lots of opportunities for whitewater rafting, hiking, fishing, biking and zip lining.
With 7 bedrooms, up to 20 guests (plus young children) can stay on property based on two guests per bed. With a living room on the ground floor and the second floor, dining tables to accommodate 16 guests (a main dining room table for eight which is open to another two tables, each seating four, in the adjacent living spaces), a game room, fire pit, and 7 bedrooms/6 bathrooms, there are enough spaces for your large group to both come together and spread out as desired. There's also a newly renovated flex room above the game room which is an ideal space for yoga, an artist retreat (based on approval), mobile massage and other group activities!
If you would like to hang out around the house, there's plenty to do between the many books to read on the 50' covered patio overlooking the French Broad River, enjoying the 65" Samsung smart TV and games in the cozy second floor living room, cooking on the six-burner gas stove or on the outdoor Weber gas grill. On the other side of the property you can roast s'mores by the fire pit, watch TV while choosing between a game of ping pong, skee-ball, giant jenga, chess and poker. Want to make some time for wellness? Enjoy the flex space for yoga (mats provided), book a mobile masseuse for your group, use the space for an art retreat (contact us to discuss retreat details). The beautiful historic house was spacious and inviting for our 15 family members. It was a treat to be able to walk downtown, especially for visits to the coffee shops and restaurants. Kitchen is small for cooking for large groups, but having a big pantry was a plus. The family spent many hours on the front porch. Lindy, the hostess, was very easy to work with and answered all questions quickly.

Perfect Accommodations for Multiple Couples
We hosted multiple couples at the Marshall Inn the weekend of our daughter's wedding at a nearby venue. The Marshall Inn exceeded our expectations in a number of ways.First, the rooms are configured in such a way that each of our guests, who did not previously know any of the other guests, had a unique balance of privacy and connectedness, enabling them to feel comfortable.Second, the living areas and wonderful front porch provided many opportunities to get to know each other and enjoy each other's company. Third, we put our family members right down the hill from The Marshall Inn at the Old Marshall Jail Hotel. They were easily able to walk up to join us for meals all weekend, and the well-appointed kitchen and abundant dining areas allowed us to host 20-25 total people for multiple meals. Finally, the proximity to the charming Main Street of Marshall was easily accessible and provided our guests with a lot to do during the breaks in the action of the wedding weekend.I recommend The Marshall Inn without and hesitation!

Historic delightful inn with special touches and super hostess
This historic property is a delightful find! Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for a large group, all are comfortable and well appointed, and truly fabulous touches throughout the property. Be sure to locate the original door bells (pre electric) and plan for plenty of time on the delightful front porch enjoying a coffee or evening drink overlooking downtown Marshall. Lindy was a super hostess, responsive and well-informed- it’s clear she is dedicated to making every guest feel special. We will definitely be back to this gorgeous property!

Charming Home in Quaint Mountain Town
We loved the Marshall House Inn. The hosts thought of everything you might need. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Great place for a large group. The kitchen is well equipped. There is a ping pong table, fire pit and a room for games or a family movie night. The restaurants we visited were terrific. There is plenty of hiking in the area. It was the perfect place to chill out on the front porch with a view of the town.

Lovely property, lovely town, lovely stay!
Our 15 member extended family (including two small dogs!) found this property the perfect mix of large private spaces with still enough room on the porch and in the various living areas to gather as a group. The overlook of the town was beautiful, and there were just enough establishments within walking distance to keep it interesting while still feeling like we could make it to all of them! Beautiful drives in and out were the icing on the cake. Hosts were helpful and gracious, very highly recommend!!

Fabulous historic property
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this historic inn in Marshall, NC. Our travel party included ages 2-70. There was plenty of space for everyone! The home was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and despite the home being historic, it had been updated nicely and included all modern amenities. The home owner/property manager was very accessible and check-in and check-out processes were very easy. The home is walking distance to downtown Marshall- a cute mountain town with a handful of restaurants, shops, and a brewery. We visited in the winter, so did not explore local hiking trails. Overall, we were very happy with this house and would stay again!

Super House
Our family has been renting a house at Christmas for over ten years. This was our favorite. The house is big and comfortable. The amenities were great. We enjoyed the ping pong and other games. And we spent time around the fire pit. It was just right for our family.

Wonderful historic home
We had a great experience at Marshall House Inn. My family of 12 adults and two children stayed and everyone had plenty of room to spread out. The owner was incredibly responsive and helpful with a couple of questions we had.
Marshall is a tiny cute town and we had fun exploring. Would definitely stay again.

The best experience using an online booking service yet.
The Marshall House Inn has the best view of downtown Marshall you could ask for. Sitting on the porch taking in the river with the sun shining is a true gift to experience. We used this venue for our wedding and I can't say enough about how fit the property is for an event like this. Everyone was amazed with the house itself and the surroundings. It's located in the heart of Marshall so there is a lot to do just steps away from the front door. We have some really great wedding pictures both on the property and downtown. We used down on the bridge for our first look. I can't wait to get these pictures back. It felt so magical! We did have some kid's with us so the game room was a welcomed spot for their entertainment, as was the park just across the bridge. If you have older kid's you can see them from the porch to keep an eye on them. The diner and zuma are really wonderful places to grab a bite to eat or have lunch/dinner. Nothing fancy, but really nice with a small town feel. I loved how easy this felt. From the booking process on Lyndy was extremely helpful in making our day and stay the best experience we have had yet. I will be back for sure. I'm thinking how great it would be to spend Christmas at the Inn and it's only May. lol Thank you to our host. You made a girl's dreams come true. We will forever cherish these memories.

Hosted my wedding reception
I rented the Inn to host my wedding reception. The Inn is so elegant that I did minimal decorating. The caterer set up on the expansive porch. I had about 30 guests and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit and eat.

Perfect Choice for a Wedding Party!
Our friends were getting married in Asheville, and we booked the house for the entire wedding party. We also hosted the rehearsal dinner on the large patio, and it was perfect! We all had plenty of space with separate rooms and bathrooms, and we enjoyed the common areas where we could gather together. The house is beautifully decorated and very clean. The property was also the prefect location for wedding photos! We had an amazing time. Thanks for all your help Lindy!

Mansion on the French Broad River
We were familiar with the property when it was a bed and breakfast and were excited to now be able to rent the whole property for our extended family’s trip. It was also kind of cool to stay in a mansion built by the Biltmore’s architect. We spent most of our time enjoying the game room and fire pit but it was also nice to walk to downtown Marshall and it wasn’t too far from downtown Asheville either. Thanks for a great trip!
