We stayed at this home over Thanksgiving and unfortunately encountered a significant mouse problem during our visit. On our first night (Tuesday), we saw a mouse run across the kitchen. We immediately notified the owner/management company, who told us pest control would not be available because of the holiday. Our stay was Tuesday–Saturday, yet no one came out at any point to address the problem.During the stay, we found mouse droppings in kitchen pans, under the sink, and in the laundry room. We had to store all of our food in the microwave and oven to keep it safe. We ended up buying our own traps and caught two mice. The owners later sent a few traps and chocolates as a small gesture, and issued a small refund, but the situation was never actually resolved during the stay.While the owner was responsive by message, the follow-through was lacking. For a home at this price point, basic pest prevention and cleanliness should already be in place. If regular inspections were truly being done, there shouldn’t have been an active mouse issue or droppings in guest areas, and traps should be set discreetly in utility spaces before guests arrive — not after they discover rodents.This house has a lot of potential, but guests deserve to know that we dealt with an active mouse infestation and had to manage it ourselves throughout our stay. I hope the owners take more proactive steps so future guests don’t have the same experience.
