Poplar Place by the Lake

Come and relax with the whole family at this serene cottage surrounded by nature on about a half acre with access to Sturgeon Lake.

Enjoy the many areas on the property and when you are craving a change of scenery head to the water which is a 5 minute walk away.

There is a picnic table, a front deck and sitting area, a fire pit area and a badminton-volleyball area.

The shared beach access offers a dock for swimming and relaxing along the shore with beautiful views of the lake.

The main floor offers two bedrooms.
One room has a queen bed with sliding doors and a balcony overlooking the forested backyard. The second room offers a double bed with large closets.

In the lower level there is a room with a queen bed with a large window looking out onto the yard and trees. The other room boasts a single over double bunk along with a futon for watching tv or for sleeping.

The living room offers a sectional couch along with two comfortable chairs next to fireplace and a television. The living room couch also converts in a bed.

The dining area offers a large table with 6 chairs. There are additional chairs to seat more guests. Surrounded by several windows, it is open to the kitchen area and offers a cozy feel thanks to a fireplace for those cooler nights.

The kitchen is fully stocked with kitchen appliances/cookware/utensils. Additional items include:
- Electric Kettle
- Coffee Maker
- Microwave, Stove Top, Oven
- Boiling pots, Frying Pans, Mixing Bowls
- All basic cooking/eating utensils

There are two televisions, one upstairs in the living room and the other the lower room with bunk beds. Both come equipped with apps like Netflix, Disney+, and other wifi streaming apps. (Need own account).

Several board games are also available like Monopoly, Life, etc.
There are also outdoor games such as a Giant Jenga Game, Badminton, Volleyball, Giant Connect 4 Game and Bocce Ball.

There is a canoe on the property which can be taken down to the lake for your daily enjoyment.

There is a long driveway with parking room for up to 4 cars.

Did not have a good experience

While the property itself are generally fine, several issues significantly impacted our experience. First, the hot tub was not in usable condition. The water level was low, and the water appeared murky, giving us the impression that it hadn't been maintained properly before our arrival. We raised the issue to the owner, but nothing really was done about it. Additionally, the property is currently for sale. While this in itself wasn’t an issue, we were informed at 12AM that a realtor would be coming through that afternoon for a showing. Although it was a bit unusual, we accommodated the request and left the house to give them space. However, the next morning, a realtor showed up again at 10AM without any prior warning. We were still in our pajamas with our young daughter, which made the situation extremely awkward. The host only messaged us afterward. It resulted in an invasion of our space during what was supposed to be a relaxing holiday. The owner initially offered a small compensation for the inconvenience, but we didn’t feel it was adequate considering the multiple issues we faced. After we asked for something more appropriate, the owner completely ghosted us and never got back to us. This lack of communication and disregard for our concerns was incredibly frustrating and left us feeling disrespected. The issues with the hot tub, the unexpected realtor visits, and the owner's unprofessional behavior made our stay disappointing. We would not recommend staying here.
