Originally a gothic Royal castle built in 13th century during reign of king Premysl Otakar II, rebuilt in rennaisance and baroque style until getting its current Neogothic appearance from 1841-71 after Windsor castle example. The Neogothic Chateau belonged to Counts of Schwarzenberg until 1947 when it was confiscated and nationalized. There is a nice big surrounding English park. The chateau is opened to public and counts as one of the most visited in our country.
