The room we had appeared to be recently renovated and was very nice. Some of the furniture was functional but were from before the renovation and took away from the completeness of the renovation. The room had a small balcony that overlooks the valley. A beautiful view. All things considered, a nice place to stay.

Rooms are nothing like depicted on their website. Plain ordinary 2 star hotel room's. Had asked for main floor (mobility issues) with two queen beds. They tried to give me a room with 1 queen bed on second floor. Insisted that was all that was available. Told them they would have to carry my 240 pound wife up and down the stairs every time we went out. Suddenly there was a room available on main floor,

There was no hot water for shower. I was going to ask for a refund but was too tired to look for another booking. Get a plumber and get it fixed. How hard is it? The swimming pool and sauna looked turned off on purpose to save money. The water was not circulating in the pool. It looked unsafe for swimming.

In general it wasn’t bad, room and beds was clean, but when we came receptionist told us that there is no hot water. Also there is no iron inside. Probably it should be because there is the place for iron but it wasn’t there. Room was ordered for three of us, but there is the only one skin and head care kit. How do you think is it enough? Even for a stay for one day. Public shower and washroom was so dirty. Please review that

It was cheap.. Only thing going for it. Ashtrays outside every room.. Rooms smelled of old smoke. Air conditioner was ancient and extremely loud.

Hot water issue

There was no hot water when we came, so tried the next day but it’s only warm water for the first person who used the shower and when the 4th person used it it’s already cold water, no more hot water. There are some hair in the drawer where the blower stored.

The lodges were located just off the Trans Canada Highway and some distance from the town of Golden itself. The distance was not walkable. The accommodation was ok but the toilet facilities let any positive experience down big time. The toilet wasn’t clean, it had a smell, the loo seat was broken. The towels weren’t very absorbent and there was now way of drying them out. A 5 minute drive to the town of Golden provided everything you needed. Decent restaurants- can recommend The Turning Point - a good bookstore with new and secondhand books and a great coffee shop. A 90 minute drive (through beautiful scenery) from the hustle and bustle of Banff was worth it if you like authenticity. Would we visit Golden again- 100%. Would we stay at Golden Village Lodges - probably not.

No hot water. Room dirty. Brown/yellow ring in toilet. Sink had a small leak. The bathroom floor was sticky. They sent a cleaner who did a small amount but didn’t touch the fridge or microwave which smelled and still had time set from the last user. The toilet still had a significant ring but at least we knew some cleaner had been used.

Plumbing issues make this a poor choice

The rooms were comfortable and clean having been recently renovated. Unfortunately the soundproofing is not great between rooms, and the noise from the nearby highway is quite intrusive - although the glazing is good, the air conditioning units pass the sound through. With ear plugs, we got a good night sleep - the bed was very comfortable. The biggest issue, though, was the lack of hot water. Cold showers all round :-(

Bathroom wasn’t clean, there were q-tips stuck in corners, sink was clogged, hotel staff were kind of rude and dismissive when checking in. The restaurant next door that the hotel is associated with were not familiar with their own menu, the price was pretty crazy since they don’t include rice or naan with their mains so everything had to paid for separately, didn’t have any drink options for take out and did not provide any cutlery. All in all was pretty disappointed. Was also charged about $50 more for the room than what was marketed.
