Unusual, romantic apartment full of atmosphere in one of Florence's oldest areas - that once occupied by the Roman amphitheatre. Indeed, the street takes its name from one of the principal entrances into the arena. Just 50m from the church of Santa Croce Church, 200m from Piazza Signoria, 100m from Piazza del Duomo, 200m from the Uffizzi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio, and 10m from Vivoli, Florence's best known ice cream parlour!! The apartment, on the first floor of this antique palazzo, is accessed via a flight of 24 steps (no elevator). It offers 2 double bedrooms (one with a French bed - 140x200 cm ), which look onto the open plan sitting room area, a fully appointed kitchen, a marble dining table for 6. Overall very nice property, however the stairs to apartment are challenging. Diego was very helpful upon our arrival, even carrying our luggage up all the stairs. The apartment is eclectic to say the least, but very clean & updated bathroom. The location of property is excellent, Vivoli right around the corner, Ufizi Gallery a short walk, Santa Croce Cathedral one block away. And so many excellent cafes & restaurants in this area. Taxi stand is about 1 block away, right across from Cafe Mario in front of Piazza.

A great first impression of Florence! Fabrizio and Diego were both easy to communicate with and followed up almost immediately with questions we had. The flat was lovely to stay in and was as advertised. It was so nice to have a washer to do our laundry. The flat itself is lovely… a real travellers paradise with items displayed from all parts of the world. The one thing I would caution people on is the stairs to the loft bedroom are steep. We had no problem, but if you have mobility issues you may want to stay in the bedroom on the main level.

Perfect Home Base for Visiting Florence

From the start, Fabrizzio (owner) was very responsive and helpful. Diego met us as soon as we arrived at the apartment despite our being delayed about 5 hours. The apartment is lovely and spacious and worked very well for the two couples. Bathroom worked very well. There are two A/C units and fans that kept us plenty cool enough and we visited during a heat wave (5 days of temps in mid-90s to 100). We didn’t cook (too lazy) but used the kitchen for lunches and breakfast and it had all you need for cooking. The location itself is outstanding - very central and short distance from anything you might want to see in Florence. We also had Fabrizzio take us on a day trip tour (driving us to San Gimignano, Siena and lunch and wine tasting in Chianti at a friendly, fun locally-owned winery). The tour was excellent and Fabrizzio makes for wonderful company. I very highly recommend both the apartment and a tour!!

Fantastic Place in a Great Location

We loved our time here!! Vivoli is right around the corner (coffee, gelato… or both with an affogato) and the Osteria Cafe Italiano (brick oven wood fired pizza) is just a little farther down. Both were excellent. We enjoyed the fact we were just off the main path, but only a block or so from the Basilica of Santa Croce and so many of the sites we wanted to see were within walking distance. Check in was easy and Deigo was very helpful and so willing to answer any questions or address any needs we had. Highly recommend.

This was a wonderful VRBO. Communication with the owner was quick and efficient. We were met at the door by someone who told us how everything works and how to work the locks. The kitchen was more than serviceable with a clothes washer, gas stove, microwave and fully stocked. The dining room table and full fridge could accommodate a very large party. The primary bedroom had a full queen and was very comfortable. The upstairs bedroom had a full twin. The living area had a couch and nice seating area. The owner of the property has a nice design touch and the home is full of knickknacks and other art.The bathroom is the star of the apartment with a full walk-in shower with a rain showerhead. The water was hot and plentiful and more than enough space for even the largest person.The property is located in a nice quiet area of Florence just around the corner from a TikTok famous Affogato, place. The property is also very secure and quiet.I almost hate to write this review because I’d like to keep this property as my private secret but it is such a lovely place everyone should have the opportunity to use it.

Nice stay

We enjoyed our stay here - the apartment is nicely equipped with everything we needed. Everything is within walking distance yet the apartment still feels pretty quiet overall. This is an apartment for people who don’t mind the stairs as it is on the second floor and one bed is in the loft which requires using the ladder to go and up down as well.

Walking in the steps of Dante

What a treat to stay in such a historic building and amazing apartment so eclectic in furnishings. Hard to beat the location. Everything so close to walk to. A bit away from the crowds. The Vivoli gelato worth the wait and it has a wine window. My only suggestion would be a bathroom mirror a bit lower so shorter people can use it.

Just wow!

This apartment was a dream! We loved our stay in Florence and this apartment made it all the more special. It was spacious and to say interesting is an understatement, it’s filled with incredible trinkets from all over the world. The location was excellent. We walked from the train station easily and then found ourselves in the heart of Florence. As a family of 5, the big kitchen and washing machine was an added bonus. From start to finish the booking process was easy. I would definitely recommend this magical apartment to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable and spacious stay in Florence.

Amazing apartment close to all amenities

Loved our stay at this property. The check in process was very easy and Diego was very accommodating as our train from Rome was delayed and then finding a taxi quite the wait. The location is fabulous, close to everything. The farthest walk we had was 25 min and that was to a tour bus. Everything else was super close with the train station a 15-20 min walk depending on the crowds. Beds were comfortable and the fans helped immensely with the heat. Overall such a wonderful experience.

Amazingly wonderful apartment in the heart of Florence

This might be my favorite stay EVER in a VRBO outside the United States. The communication with the owner prior to arriving was clear and complete (and very friendly) and check in was simple and comprehensive. The apartment itself was actually even nicer than pictured on the VRBO site, with very eclectic decorations that were fun to examine. The rooms were great, beds were comfortable, the bathroom was very nice, and the kitchen was usable with a really wonderful washing machine. A lot of extras were included that made our stay very enjoyable. The stairs to the apartment were steep and many, but we managed and it would not have been the same 13th Century building experience without them. The location is amazing—just steps from several wonderful sites, and within a 15 minute walk from everything we wanted to see. Despite how close everything is, the area isn’t touristy,which I appreciated. Nearby restaurants were great, and shopping was varied and plentiful. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone and I would stay here again. Thanks for a great visit!
