Home was clean, well located near Catoctin State Park, had gorgeous views. Martha was an excellent communicator, and left cute touches like a welcome bag with cookies. The breakfast basket for the morning was also awesome!

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The place was spotless, well-organized, and had everything we could possibly need — from towels and soaps to fully stocked kitchen supplies. The host went above and beyond by providing a generous breakfast basket with bagels, baked goods, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, cereal, and snacks. The garage space was beautiful, and the backyard offered peaceful, scenic views with access to a fire pit and grill — perfect for relaxing in the evening. Communication with the owner was excellent throughout our stay. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming getaway.

The Best
What a wonderful stay. The place was so very well equipped. It had everything you could possible need and want. The breakfast basket was such a personal touch and there was even a welcome gift bag for each of us.
They thought of everything.
Can't even decribe how comfy the bed and pillows were. We will be back.

Enjoyable stay and a delicious breakfast
We had a wonderful stay at the scenic country getaway. We came for the Gettysburg 160th anniversary. It's a great location, really nice amenities and thoughtful goods such as coffee, nice breakfast, seltzer, water, etc. I forgot toothpaste and they had an extra one. Very nice. Highly recommend.

Wonderful Weekend
My wife and I stayed at Martha and Steve's studio for a weekend to unwind after celebrating our wedding. Immediately upon walking in, it already felt like home. The studio was clean, organized, and stocked with a welcome package as well as a breakfast basket that the hosts offered to us before checkin. Although the studio is directly beneath their main house, we hardly heard them at all (and I hope they can say the same), and it truly felt like an isolated space. They seemed happy to interact with us as much as we felt necessary, which for us was minimal as we were seeking an escape from social obligations for a weekend. Ultimately, exactly what we were hoping for, and if we ever are looking to stay in the area again, this will be at the top of our list.

Anniversary
If we could rate the MD/PA Retreat a 10 we would. We couldn’t have had a better place & wished we could’ve extended our stay. The retreat is decorated so adorable & the bed was so comfortable. The location of their place is convenient, as well. Our hosts were the best! They thought of everything & went above & beyond to make their guests welcomed & comfortable. Martha’s homemade goodies were delicious and the gift bag of snacks were as well. They even went through the trouble of leaving an anniversary card & cake for us, which was very thoughtful & a delightful surprise. Steve & Martha, thank you for making our anniversary extra special and for being the wonderful hosts that you are. We have already recommended your place to some family & friends, and we can’t wait to come back and stay at your lovely retreat again. Thanks again for everything:)

Outstanding
I stayed here for three nights in mid August in connection with a Civil War seminar at both Antietam and Gettysburg. One could not ask for more. The advanced communication was amazing. The owners have thought of everything the guest would need and the property is clean, updated, efficient, and safe. The kitchen does not have a stand alone stove and oven but the portable table top oven and the electric plug in range does the job. The location is just minutes south of Gettysburg. There are some good places to dine in Emmitsburg.
It's a 10 out of 10.

Amazing Property! Hidden Gem!!!
This place is perfect for anyone visiting Emmitsburg, Gettysburg or even visiting someone/attending the National Fire Academy training center located in Emmitsburg. The studio is spacious and literally has everything someone would need to feel right at home. Steven and Martha go out of their way to have everything at your fingertips. From A personalized welcome bag with goodies to fresh half and half and a cheese board in the fridge, I felt cozier at their place than my own home! I could learn a thing or two from them! I arrived late on Thursday night to have a girls’ weekend with a friend attending the Academy. They were so thoughtful to leave the lights on knowing this was such a new place for me. On Friday, while she was in class, I had a very productive and comfortable day working from the studio taking video calls. Wi-Fi was awesome, coffee was perfect and the breakfast spread couldn’t be beat. Friday night, we grabbed an early dinner before heading back to the house to watch the sun go down over the farmland in the back yard chairs. Maggie, the primary residents’ dog also got to hang with us for a bit! Martha could tell that we were dog lovers and while she’s smart in having a no pet policy in case people are allergic inside the studio, she was so sweet to let us visit with Maggie while we were watching the sun go down outside. Throughout the entire weekend, we found ourselves grateful to have discovered this gem of a place!

Restful stay in bucolic setting
It was great to have a private garage for parking and easy entry into studio apartment. Even though it is technically a studio as there is no door to the bedroom, the space is really large with an entrance area, hallway leading to the living area with a desk and rocking chairs, bathroom, full kitchen, dining section, living room area, and bed and armoire at the far end of the space. Bed was very comfortable. Everything was very clean and well thought out. Amazing chocolate chip cookies in goody bag. Great selection of hot drinks to choose from to make including an assortment of teas as well as coffees that you can grind or have preground. Information book was very helpful. Breakfast was simple but tasty and filling.
Backyard area is very peaceful and my husband was able to fly his drone very happily without fear of close trees.
Visited Gettysburg and had lunch in main street area which was only 15 mins away. Also did a hike along Appalachian trail and to High Rock which are close by.
Hosts were delightful and quick to respond to any requests.
Would highly recommend for anyone needing a peaceful getaway or if you want to visit Gettysburg, Mt St. Mary's or Ski Liberty. Will definitely be returning!
