Parking Penalty

The hotel is called Chorley South but is located on the northbound side of the motorway so we had to lug our luggage over the bridge (my partner was on crutches and the escalator was out of use at one end), my bed was lumpy, there wasn't any shampoo in the dispenser in the shower, someone opened the room to our door in the morning (assuming cleaner; there wasn't a Do Not Disturb sign to hang on door handle) and we've just received a parking fine despite providing our car registration during check-in and being assured that there was nothing more we needed to do.

Excellent hotel and food

I have stayed at this hotel before and that went well so I booked again. Large spacious car park, clean throughout, efficient check in and superb, happy, welcoming staff. I especially want to recognise Seonaid on reception who ran reception and bar so well, and Alix the chef on duty, who despite having very few restaurant users, still prepared the meals to a very high standard with generous portions and excellent presentation. A pleasure to interact with professional hospitality employees.

This hotel was very convenient, but be warned that if you're travelling south, you'll need to go past the hotel and drive back up and then the same to return to the southbound carriage. Note that we booked a double room, but we're given a twin. When I went back to reception to question this, I was told the system automatically allocated rooms. With it being so late, I couldn't be bothered to argue this. When I mentioned this in the morning, the lady had a much better customer service response. Sometimes the room is taken and so the system will automatically book something else. It would be nice to be notified of this before arriving late at night and being surprised. Poor system setup.
