We enjoy the setting at the Inn especially the ponies on sight and the quiet atmosphere. We had a lovely room and the breakfast was adequate , however, it was delivered to the wrong room so we did not receive it until later. Overall a very nice stay.

The room was very clean, except for the baseboards in the bathroom. They had not been dusted for quite a while. The maids for the most part were indifferent. They always shortchanged us with hand towels. Women need extra hand towels for their hair. We don't dry our hair with bath towels as men do. Also, the breakfast was inadequate. The Tropicana Juice Blend was an awful tasting concoction. It had a dark color and did not taste fresh or good, And the Yoplait yogurt had corn starch and too much sugar. Greek yogurt would be an excellent choice. Providing baked goods was good, however, the portions were small and did not satisfy one if one was having only that and coffee. The hotel should not advertise that a marsh view was prevalent from the room. The marsh was too far away to be seen from the room. I do give credit that it was delightful to feed and see the ponies daily. It was one of the highlights of staying at the Refuge Inn. Kudos to the front desk staff in welcoming us and helping with a cookout we had in the afternoon on the weekend.
The Assateague Island National Seashore, VA was minutes away from the hotel.
Chincoteague ponies in the marsh before Assateague National Seashore were easily accessible from The Refuge Inn
Goblins outside the Refuge Inn were a welcome sight heralding the advent of Halloween.
The marsh near the Refuge Inn provided good access to photographing the Assateague Island lighthouse.

Wonderful ponies

Front desk staff were the greatest. You are out in the woods. Herd of ponies waiting to be fed across the parking lot, I fell in love with Honeymoon. Only drawback were the mosquitoes. They were relentless even though it went down into the 60s at night.
