Perfect location to downtown dining/shopping. A quick walk to the boardwalk by the water. Such a unique hotel vibe. We took a risk booking this using just the pictures and reviews, so glad we did as it was worth the experience. Highly recommend staying here if you have the chance.

Technological nightmare

At first we were impressed with the charm of the hotel lobby. But when we got to our room, nothing worked - not the tv, not the telephone, not the coffee maker and not the bathroom lighting. I honestly cannot believe they had the nerve to rent out this hotel room without checking for operational problems. We were given a discount on the rate but it was so bad that we left a day early.

A Satisfactory Stay at the Great George

Our stay at The Great George was a solid three stars. It was satisfactory. The hotel is very charming. The staff is mostly pleasant, and the breakfast, coffee service and other added services were very good and a nice touch. But after a rather long day of travel and sightseeing, you don't want to have to wait an hour or more for your room to be ready, when it's passed the check-in time... and then realize it takes three hours to heat the room to a pleasant temperature to feel comfortable. The hotel is in a great lication with many wonderful restaurants and shops nearby. Maybe the hotel was just having a bad day. One last thing...a good place to look to see how well a hotel room is cleaned is by looking up at the bathroom vent. Dear G.G., you might want to look at those vents...two secconds to vacuum.

My husband and I loved our stay at the George. We were in the DA Bruce building facing the courtyard, on the upper floor. The room was updated nicely, and clean. I found the bed a bit hard and the pillows too full but in saying that, everyone’s preferences are different. The breakfast was excellent and there were many choices. My only complaint is that the seating in the lounge/eating area needs to have more tables. However, the lobby is decorated to match the charm of the hotel which is what I loved most and why I chose it. I would definitely stay again!
