Scaffoldings obstructing the views

The hotel is refurbishing so there are scaffoldings near the windows of many rooms - I saw many guests complaining about this as well. This was not explicitly said before booking, so because of that, I am giving it 3 stars. It was quite clean though, and very close to the town centre.

Staff were all great - super polite, friendly and helpful. Room was spotlessly clean and parts looked recently painted. Lovely large towels. Overall however the room needs renovation. Was delighted with the vegan choices for breakfast and the hot breakfast was well cooked and tasty. Hotel is currently undergoing renovations and this does impact on facilities. The areas done (reception and bar area) look great but our bedroom windows were in a terrible state and the view mainly of scaffolding. Also the hotel is set back from the road and the signage at the entrance is missing, so it is difficult to find the entrance from the road.

An aging property going under refurbishment. We stayed in a pet friendly large upgraded room, with a view of the front garden. The hotel is set back from the main road, so very peaceful. Within a 10 min walk of the city, so an excellent location. We thought the price per night on a BH weekend was competitive, which included a good breakfast and free parking, which many of the other hotels charge for, these days. Very welcoming and friendly staff.

While a super place to stay - disappointed with our dinner experience in the bar! Clearly short on staff or similar as meal took 90 minutes to arrive. The meals themselves did not represent value for money.

The position is great and the decoration good. The reception staff were always helpful. However, the bed was a small double and very hard and uncomfortable. Also, there was a noisy fan sound from somewhere that woke me up. I realise that beds are very subjective and the noise may only be localised but it affected me. This does not take away from the location or service. Also, the rooms were very well finished and the styling thought about.
