Amazing property that is surprisingly close to everything, considering how secluded it feels there. Host responded promptly to inquiries, house was super spacious, and the kayaking was lots of fun. Beautiful place to just relax for a few days.

We had a great week's stay. The house was well-appointed and easily accessible for one of our party members who used a wheelchair and walker. The lake access and kayaks were a great bonus and allowed for pleasant evenings on the Potomac.

This was a very nice house and Sylvia was very responsive. We enjoyed the view out the back windows, although we were there when it was pretty hot and humid so we couldn't go outside too much. The AC worked great. We also saw bald eagles and deer in the front yard. It was summer, so be prepared for lots of flying insects outside too :)

A Peaceful retreat in the perfect location!

We spent an extended weekend at this property and our only regret was having to leave! The location was perfect for exploring Washington, D.C., Old Town Alexandria, and the National Harbor. However, the true gem was returning to the tranquility and comfort of this home. We enjoyed watching the wildlife, including deer wandering in the front yard and majestic bald eagles soaring overhead. The sunsets from the Captain's House were breathtaking. The home felt like a private oasis, with the Potomac River providing the perfect backdrop for rest and relaxation. Sylvia, our host, was nothing less than exceptional. She was always just a message away, promptly addressing all our questions before our arrival and ensuring we had everything we needed during our stay. We will definitely come back!

Lovely family vacation with our grown kids and spouses

This property worked great for our group. Everyone had their own bathroom, and we gave the guest house to our son and his wife who were celebrating their anniversary. The kayaks were great, wish we could have used them more. But the weather didn’t cooperate. Loved exploring Old Town Alexandria! The deck was great for evening chats once it wasn’t so hot. We also loved the bird activity! Saw 2 bald eagles!

A true GEM!

From the time of our booking, through our just completed stay, Owner was gracious, cooperative, responsive and helpful. The property itself was perfect for my wife and I and our two guests. Spacious, large bedrooms and very well stocked kitchen. We lacked for nothing. The guest house was a great option for a little separation, although we didn't need it for this trip. Sister Trip

My sisters joined me for a gathering. Some of us stayed at the waterfront home and others stayed at National Harbor, but we floated between the two. The peacefulness and Zen of the waterfront home was much needed and restful. Everyone enjoyed the stay and the memories that were created. If the house wasn't so big, I would just take time to book it for my husband and myself, even though we live in the area.

West Coast Family Reunion

This house was perfect for a family reunion. 9 persons in VRBO and 10 folk staying locally. From badminton, kayaking, grilling and eating the sunset every night together, it was perfect. Every bedroom had an adjacent bathroom, the dining and great room had spectacular views of the river. We were foodies and cooks and had to bring some of our own equipment, but the kitchen was capacious and a pleasure to work in. Everyone wants to come back and the little ones want to live here!

Absolutely wonderful!

We have stayed in a few VRBOs, all have been really great, but this was the nicest by far. Lots of space, beautiful views. Once we figured out the park and ride, it was an easy trip to DC. Water pressure was a bit weak, but all the great things in this house made up for it.

Perfect family retreat

We had a wonderful stay at this property! The house was beautiful-big and sprawling for our family group of 8 adults/young adults. Gorgeous view of Potomac. Loved the location…rural woods lake house, but about 40 minutes to DC. We enjoyed the kayaks, the boat house and visited many historical sites. Sylvia was always very responsive and helpful to all our questions. Highly recommend.

Beautiful, on-the-river property

This home is spacious, clean and private. The river view is priceless. I would recommend this property to any and all. 45 minutes from downtown DC; but the rural location has the feel of absolute peace and quiet.
