Room was well presented by the housekeepers. However, a lightbulb had failed and a replacement was not available by the end of our 2 night stay. The lighting in the room was poor. A towel holder came free from the bathroom vanity unit and fell heavily on my partners toe. Overall, the room facilities fall short of that available in a large motel chain. Although reasonably spacious, a single easy chair in a two person room is stingy. We chose to have dinner in the restaurant one night. at 7;00pm the only main choice was advertised as roast chicken. This was served in a tray with about half an inch of cooking juices still there and there was almost no colour to the chicken skin. On eating the dish, the texture of the chicken was overly firm and not pleasant. One of the chicken pieces was slightly pink inside and had spots of red visible. On reporting this to a member of the waiting staff, no action was taken. WE then asked the waiter to report our concerns to the chef. A gentleman in chefs whites did appear behind the serving counter but he made no effort to engage with us. Whilst recognising the importance of maximising the revenue stream, an additional charge to park in the hotel car park seems a little greedy. The reception and housekeeping staff were universally helpful and made our stay much more acceptable.

Lovely hotel at am amazing price , we went out for breakfast so cant comment on food. Rooms were okay we had 2 and one was much nicer than the other with a 42 inch smart TV and really comfortable bed. Other room very thin mattress and standard small TV. The entrance for parking was dirty and not appealing , but makm entrance lioks nice and is currently undergoing updates. Pool area was nice

The reception area is lovely and welcoming, with grand furnishings as well as the dining and bar area. However, the bar stated it was open till 1am daily but the staff called last orders at 1030pm and cleared the lamps away from the tables whilst guests were still sitting having a drink. The cooked breakfast was okay, but the fruit selection was awful and I couldn’t even begin to say what a couple of the fruits bowls actually were, they were unrecognisable. Several plates were dirty and even the chef picked one up and used his tea towel to wipe it. Thankfully he didn’t put it back on the pile. The room was spacious but very dated. There were black marks/scuffs on the walls and I couldn’t even begin to think what the stain was that was on the curtain.

We arrived as a party of 7 for two nights and sadly my room that slept 6 was tired. The furniture was antiquated, there was no heating in the room and it was obviously to difficult for maintenance to fix as they left it for the two nights, despite my reporting of the issue on two seperate occassions plus a wasted wait on the first night for no one at reception. Eventually, I was offered a heater, providing I took it away myself. So this was a big issue as it was 10c and the room was freezing and the condensation was ridiculous.

Check in and out was simple. The room was a decent size and clean but a little tired in places. The pub was decent as was the evening meal. The menu had limied choice for those looking for lighter or healthier evening meals. Staff seemed a bit glum. All in all, for the price paid I think The Spread Eagle was reasonable value for money.

My kettle was absolutely covered in scale so at first couldnt make bottles for my baby was in a family room with my children was no tv on wall only a bracket& the hotel itself was quite dated.
