Welcome to Chickadee Chalet!
Your Bigfork story starts on the deck. Step outside with your morning coffee and the Swan River is rushing by just a few feet away, with nothing but trees and water in view and the occasional visit from local wildlife. It feels like you're tucked away in the woods, but Chickadee Chalet sits one block from downtown Bigfork, so shops, galleries, restaurants and live music are an easy walk away.
Spend the day out on Flathead Lake or walking the Swan River Nature Trail along the Wild Mile, then come home to a place made for a couple of friends, two couples or a small family. Upstairs, the primary loft has a queen bed, its own bathroom and big windows looking out at the trees. Downstairs, the second queen bedroom sits on the main level next to a full bathroom with a jetted bathtub, just right for a long soak after a big day. The open kitchen and living room keep everyone together, with granite counters, stainless appliances, a table for four and three stools at the counter for snacks and stories.
When evening comes, fire up the gas grill and eat out on the deck with the sound of the river in the background. Then head inside, turn on the gas fireplace and settle in for the night. With air conditioning for warm summer days and downtown just around the corner, Chickadee Chalet is an easy place to fall for, and you'll probably be planning your next trip before you've even checked out.
Summer
When the snow melts, the Flathead Valley transforms into a playground of lakes, trails, and endless sunshine. Spend your days on Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, where you can enjoy boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, and swimming in crystal-clear waters. Just a short drive away, Glacier National Park beckons with the legendary Going-to-the-Sun Road, Lake McDonald, and over 70 incredible day hikes. Closer to home, soak in the charm of downtown Bigfork -- a vibrant hub for local shops, art galleries, award-winning restaurants, and the iconic Bigfork Summer Playhouse. Outdoor lovers can hike the Swan River Nature Trail, explore the Jewel Basin Wilderness Area, cast a line in countless lakes and rivers, or play a round at Eagle Bend Golf Course.
