This charming, detached, Grade II listed toll house is situated on the edge of the oldest part of the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, beyond the remains of the ancient walls. All on the ground floor with lots of light and comfortably furnished throughout it’s an ideal retreat for couples keen to enjoy a car free holiday being just 5 minutes walk to the railway station. Great for exploring the glorious beaches and fishing villages of the Northumbrian coast; Alnwick and Bamburgh castles are in easy reach as are the great houses of the Scottish Borders, Paxton, Floors and Mellerstain. Berwick has a wide array of shops, pubs, restaurants and an excellent theatre at The Maltings. Edinburgh is under an hour by train. Beach 2 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 220 yards.

Berwick Short Break

The Toll House was lovely. Clean, comfortable and cosy. Fully equipped kitchen, though we only had breakfast in you could easily have prepared a whole meal. Berwick Upon Tweed is a nice little town and ideal as a base for touring the area. Train station literally 5 min walk - handy for day trip to Edinburgh. 5 days wasn’t enough. Loved the area and would definitely stay at The Toll House again.
