Unsafe, unsanitary, and dishonest — avoid this propertyWe had a terrible experience at this property. The unit was unsafe and poorly maintained: the balcony step was broken (my wife nearly fell while holding our baby), a glass table had a broken corner at toddler head level, the shower drain was clogged and flooded the bathroom, the toilet seat and flush valve were broken, and the cabinets were falling apart. The floors were filthy, trash was left on the balcony, and we were only given half a roll of toilet paper.There was also a gnat infestation coming from the drains — clearly a sanitation issue, not “just the climate” as the host claimed.The host was unresponsive and confrontational, even gaslighting me on a call with Vrbo support. On top of this, they attempted to charge undisclosed fees (including a 25 “check-in fee”) that I never agreed to — Vrbo later confirmed this was not authorized.Ultimately, Vrbo issued a partial credit but failed to relocate us the same day. I lost a third of my time in Barcelona dealing with this and had to spend an additional 350 CAD out of pocket for last-minute accommodation.We didn’t even spend the night, we were in there for 3-4 hours while we tried to figure out where we’re going to go and then left. The attached pictures were upon arrival.This was by far my worst rental experience. I expect better safety, honesty, and guest protection from Vrbo. Until the host is held accountable, I strongly recommend avoiding this property.
