Charming forest house on the Purple Heath

Hidden among the greenery on the Purperen Heide, close to the De Liereman nature reserve, lies this atmospheric forest house full of character and modern comfort for up to four guests across three bedrooms. The woods, heathland and pools of the Natura 2000 landscape of the Antwerp Kempen lie just nearby.

Around the house is a large, lush, fully enclosed forest garden with a veranda, several terraces, a hammock and quiet spots among the trees. There's also an outdoor shower and an outdoor pool with hot and cold water. Up to two dogs are welcome free of charge.

Inside, books, natural materials, personal touches and a wood and pellet stove give the house its warm character. Pick a book from the shelf, play foosball, shuffleboard, chess or checkers, or gather around the original poker-felt card table. After a long walk, it's about coming home and slowing down: enjoy the outdoor pool, the warmth of the stove and the scents from the copper aroma kettle. This isn't a sleek, anonymous rental, but a personally furnished house with soul.

There's plenty to discover outside too. Illustrated nature guides help you identify birds, butterflies, forest animals, trees and plants, and a QR code links to walking and cycling routes, dog fields, ponds and hidden gems nearby.

Modern comforts aren't missing: air conditioning, strong wifi, streaming, a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer.

Guests especially value the peace, privacy and atmosphere here. The enclosed garden is popular with dog owners, while the pool, stove and décor add to the feeling of truly getting away.

Ideal for nature lovers, walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers and rest-seekers, with or without a dog — couples, friends and guests who value nature, privacy and comfort.
