There's also a couple of taxi cab companies you can utilize or hop on a bike with one of the popular bike sharing services that are on offer.
Avoid San Antonio in summer and you should be able to avoid the biggest San Antonio crowds. In November and April, when school summer vacations are over, you'll get a better choice of accomodations and likely a better deal. This is also a time of the year when the weather hits a sweet spot, which means you can wear shorts and a T-shirt pretty much every day. But you probably won't need a portable fan.
