Ever dream of early mornings in a seafront park, late afternoons on the boardwalk, and evening sunsets over the ocean? Welcome to your new reality.
Jersey Shore may have been made famous around the world for the MTV show of the same name, but it has so much more to offer than just cheesy catchphrases and late-night debauchery. Experience the beautiful Jersey coastline for yourself to understand why loads of families descend on it every year.
Warning: don’t call it “Jersey Shore,” unless you want to signal your out-of-towner status. Most residents simply refer to it as “the Shore.” But whatever you call it, it’s full of interesting shoreside attractions, from Atlantic City to Cape May.
Journey to Wildwood to see the classic motels that line the beach. Many emerged during the 1950s and ’60s with bright flashing neon signs, colorful deck furniture, and fenced-in swimming pools. You’ll also find thrills and spills here at the Morey’s Piers amusement park and the local waterparks.
If shopping in the sun is more your style, Atlantic City is the place for you. It’s true that casinos reign supreme, but look just a bit closer and you’ll find plenty of shopping malls with big-name retailers, as well as quaint side streets selling kitschy souvenirs. Get in a bit of history with a stop on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, a landmark that has been serving amazing views to the local community since 1870.
At the southern tip of Cape May Peninsula there exists an oasis for those looking for some peace and quiet. Cape May has some of the shore’s most stunning beaches, as well as lovely Victorian architecture that gives it an upscale vibe. Watch playful dolphins splash around or take a slow trolley tour through town.
