We stayed at Hotel Ambassador several years ago during COVID and felt it was only fair to give it another try. This trip was especially meaningful because we were celebrating our honeymoon, but unfortunately nothing was done to make the stay feel special, even after we mentioned the occasion to staff.
Check-in was also disappointing. We arrived an hour early after 24 hours of travel and were told to return at the normal check-in time, which we completely understood. However, when we came back, our room still wasn’t ready. The “five minute wait” turned into an hour. We were also told our luggage would be waiting in the room, but when we arrived it wasn’t there. Only half of our bags were delivered after we called, and I eventually had to go downstairs to retrieve the rest because staff didn’t know which bags were ours.
I also left an item on the breakfast table and was disappointed to learn that it was either discarded or stolen from lost and found bc it was left on the counter for anyone to grab.
Breakfast itself did not feel like 4 star quality and felt more in line with a 2–3 star hotel. We also paid extra for a “Matterhorn view,” but the view was minimal and not worth the upgrade.
On a positive note, the staff members were very friendly, and the location of the hotel was great. If we were to go back to Zermatt again, we’d definitely opt to stay somewhere else.
