34 Coney Street - The Book Sellers
CONEY STREET , York’s premier shopping street was home to some colourful characters down the ages. In 1150, the main street in York, was called Cuningstrete, the King’s Street. It ran from Ousegate right to the Museum Gardens. By the 18th century it was the site of the seat of government in the city, with the Guildhall and the Mansion House in pride of place. But it was in the 19th century that it became a shopping centre par excellence, with high class fashion establishments, costumiers, furriers, milliners, linen drapers, pianoforte warehouse, bookshops and jewellers, as well as the home of York’s first department store, Leak and Thorp which opened in 1869.

Lovely short stay
Me and my partner attended a stay at York for the Christmas Market and stayed in this property which was quirky and different to most accommodation stays. It had a homely and authentic feel which York being a cultural and historic town, with a lovely layout and peaceful stay. Highly recommend this accommodation.

The Booksellers mini break
The Booksellers is a quaint property in an excellent location in the heart of York, perfect for a mini break with the family.
Unfortunately we experienced a couple of issues, one was no signal on the TV, so no freeview. The other was a major plumbing issue which meant we had to vacate the property after one night. Stays were quick to resolve the issue by offering alternative accommodation which was fabulous, it was just a shame that there was no 3 bed available so our family were split across 2 individual apartments rather than being able to stay together for the remainder of our holiday and did cause disruption moving our things and wasting precious holiday time.
