Upon arrival, be ready to embrace the symphony of nature colliding with eccentricity and antiquity, all while enjoying the modern conveniences of today.
The cabin is along the Bourbon Trail, nestled in the holler of Willisburg Lake, Kentucky's top fishing hole. Twenty minutes to Bardstown, 40 minutes from Keeneland and an hour from Louisville.
Your rustic cabin has an indoor swing, well-appointed kitchen, open floor plan, large deck, fire pit and is located on the lake for fishing, and kayaking, etc
Details of Space (inside and out): Remember the old Mother Goose poem of the crooked man with the crooked house?
Well, welcome you to our cabin. :) Yes, it is a bit crooked, and a wee bit rustic but that is part of its charm...:) We are in the holler and a bit remote, so expect to travel on gravel for a mile or two before arriving.
The cabin sets high above the lake, so that means the driveway and the walk to the lake are both on a downward slope, yet all walkable and very well lit.
The cabin is an open floor plan with ceiling-to-floor windows, all for the purpose of enjoying the beauty of the great outdoors.
The kitchen is well-equipped with the essentials needed to prepare a nice meal for you, your family/friends (colander, garlic press, pots/pans, baking dishes, blenders, etc). There are eight beds (no sofa beds -- all beds). One bedroom with a California king (sleep number) and one large loft with a queen, full, and two twins. The dual shower-head shower is heaven. Oh and we have your toiletry essentials (shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, hair dryer and soft extra ply toilet paper) and just in case you forget, we even have an extra toothbrushes if needed.
As for outside the cabin, you will become one with nature, sitting on the deck, or by the firepit, enjoying a bourbon while watching deer through the densely populated forest that surrounds you.
You want to get out on the water? Let's go kayaking, fishing or simply skip rocks across the lake. It's all available, right here, on the lake, at the rustic cabin waiting for you..
The lake is Kentucky's #1 fishing lake for large-mouth bass and #2 overall for fishing in Kentucky. The large-mouth bass, bluegill, white crappie and shell-crackers and more are awaiting your fishing hook! Okay, maybe that's a stretch. I'm sure they are not looking forward to getting hooked by you! :)
FYI, We have just added new steps down to the lake with railing. (No swimming per Fish & Game, but kayak, canoe, fish and skipping rocks are welcome!)
Note, the cabin has a few treasures from the days of old (antiques). We ask that you appreciate, yet respect and enjoy.
