The apartment is really well decorated, despite being an older building, and was comfortable as a base for our weekend in the area. There are a few original features I was pleased to see preserved, like the fireplace and hearth in the living area.
The location is within walking distance of the harbour area where there was a food market during our visit, and some decent cafes. There’s also a supermarket less than 5 mins walk away for supplies.
However, the location of the apartment isn’t the best - it faces onto what turned out to be a main route through Whitehaven and the windows are single-glazed so got a little noisy late in the evening with traffic.
We also had some issues with inter-app communications. We booked via Expedia but no comms with the owners came through and, despite installing the Vrbo app (the apartment is registered via Vrbo) and asking for details, none came through. This resulted in some frantic messaging when we arrived to get access to the flat. However, once we managed to connect with the hosts they were very understanding and accommodating, even letting us know what was going on in the area that weekend.
