We were at a wedding at Danby Castle and the Fox & Hounds is just down the road. We stayed in a lovely warm room which was very clean and cosy! Fabulous breakfast both mornings & really really lovely waitress (I didn’t catch her name!) would stay again and recommend! Beautiful views! Thank you!

Very very nice pub. Good atmosphere and good food. The room was quite nice not particularly modern but nice enough. Spotlessly clean, roomy and a huge comfortable bed. One thing that would make a big difference is swap out the main lightbulb (one of those that takes time to brighten up - found the whole lighting a bit depressing and old fashioned and so easy to fix). Decent lighting required. Also the shower water pressure wasn’t great, trickle then bit better then a trickle again also hot for a bit then cold then hot again- needs sorting. Unexpected charge for dog. Don’t mind paying but would like to know at time of booking. Having said this only £10/night for two dogs so an extra £30 as we were there for 3 nights. I would recommend

A lovely location on the North York Moors. The room was clean with a good range of teas/coffees in the room. The staff and the guests were all friendly so there was a lovely atmosphere in the bar and dining area. It is a dog friendly pub and although I don't have a dog it was nice to be amongst well behaved dogs. The food was delicious with a good range of specials. The Yorkshire breakfast is a great way to get set for a day on the moors.

Fox & Hounds - great for a mini break
Parking was fine on site and check in was easy. Warm friendly hotel. Staff were lovely and very attentive. Very dog friendly throughout which is great. We only stayed for one night so decided to eat in the restaurant. Food is ok, but overpriced for what it was. Wouldn’t eat there again. Breakfast is included in the price, and again was ok but nothing special. Room was warm and just big enough for two adults and one dog. A bit dated, but had everything we needed. Bathroom looks refurbished, but shower runs hot and cold. Bed a little uncomfortable, but was quiet and fine for one night. Think for a longer stay it might not suit.

A Good Quiet Place To Stay
The room was clean, although dated in that the heating only came on at certain times and the TV reception was hit and miss. The breakfast was good and adequate, the restaurant food was also a good choice and filling and staff were lovely. Overall a nice quiet place to stay, with no banging doors or annoyance from any disrespectful guests.

Stunning area, perfect for walking and great location for the Moors and nearby coast too. Lovely warm pub with nice atmosphere but our bedroom (Room 4) was very disappointing. Booked a Standard Room and we couldn’t even unpack our luggage (nowhere to lay clothes out), the television glitched unless you supported the aerial and neither of us could properly fit in the shower, it was so small. Shower pressure too was very weak and temperature very temperamental. Other rooms may be better but they should not charge a standard room rate for an economy room.

Great pub with rooms
Very clean, light and spacious room. Bed was huge and comfortable. We arrived a bit later than planned and the bar was busy, cosy and atmospheric so we wished we'd got there sooner! Ate in the pub that night and the food was all really good. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. It was close to Roseberry Topping and the north yorkshire coast, both of which we visited. Overall a really nice place to stay

why do we keep returning to the Fox and Hounds?
We have a visit to the Fox and Hounds every October and there are good reasons why we return. The pub is charming and a good vibe in the bar, especially when it gets chilly and the fire is lit. The food is delicious and they cater for my garlic allergy. The bed is huge and comfy with a lovely view from room 2. It's in a good location for exploring the moors and the coast. The staff are friendly and helpful. And most importantly is dog friendly. We can't imagine anywhere better.
