Excellent Hotel – But NO Free WiFi.

Pros: It is stylish. Our room was modern and comfortable. The bathroom had both shower and bathtub. The staff is great. Wine reception is nice.
Cons: Free WiFi
Location: It is very close to Union train Station and convenient to the Capitol Hill area. It is also close to the Metro and buses
We stayed at the Kimpton George for three nights, from Friday 6/23/17 to Monday 6/27/17. Our one complaint was that there was no free WiFi. the George you can buy it for 12.99 a day! Everything else about the hotel was wonderful. The staff was welcoming, helpful and friendly. We arrived around 11:30 (when our train got into DC) and instead of just holding our bags, they had a room ready for us. That was really great. And on the day we left, they checked our bags in their storage room so we could do more sight-seeing before our 3 pm train. The hotel also hosts a complimentary wine reception hour from 5 to 6 so you can drink a glass and talk to your neighbors (if they are chatty). This is in the lobby under the watchful eye of Nelson, a black horse statue. We enjoyed staying at the hotel.

Convenient location, nice hotel

Pros: Free Internet
Overall this hotel gets good marks for location, hospitality and the room itself. It gets knocked down for promising a free continental breakfast until 10:30 am on Christmas morning and not delivering. We went down at 9:55 and there was nothing left. Bah humbug! On the other hand the free wine each evening is a very nice touch. It was annoying to require a registration to get free internet.

Perfect base for touring

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, close to everything
We had a great experience at this hotel. It's just a few blocks away from either the Capitol Building or the 7th street area of restaurants. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was perfectly quiet. They also had a free wine tasting each night. We didn't need the staff much, but they were very friendly the whole time. The attached restaurant, Bistro Bis, was fantastic. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.

Great People Bad Bed

Pros: Close restaurants
Cons: No free Internet, bad bed
We arrived late Thanksgiving night, all of the restaurants and bars were closed within a few miles of the hotel. After speaking with the staff they called around and made suggestions that were a cab ride away, but instead they offered us wine on the house and helped us plan for the next days sightseeing. They were lovely during the entire stay. The happy hour with wine and totties is a wonderful touch. Unfortunately the bed was AWFUL, and after 2 long days of touring the sights I was not able to get a good nights rest. My husband is a professional sleeper and even he was uncomfortable. The hotel is cute and warm, our rooms tv was hung crooked and the wall furnace cover was hanging by one screw, I expected a bit more but we were barely in the room so did not make any complaints.

Small rooms, but great none the less.

Yes, the rooms in the hotel are small. Other than that, its perfect. Besides, you're in DC, you're not there to see your room are you? Walking distance to Capital and Union Station which you can get anywhere from. Staff was great and provided wine glasses and opener for our room. The wine reception was nice, but do note that it is only M-F which isn't noted on the website. Overall, the place was great and I'll be looking for Kimptons from now on when I can.
