Nice, accommodating staff

Location: Close to the Mall, the monuments and the White House, although probably not within walking distance.
I took my eight and ten year old kids to Washington, D.C. recently for a sightseeing trip and was pleasantly surprised at how nice and attentive the staff were at the Homewood Suites. Although it seemed liked the hotel catered more for business travelers, the staff was very accommodating and helpful. Our stay included breakfast every morning and a happy hour Monday through Thursday. It was nice to have food available so we didn't have to go out for every meal and was a real cost saver. All in all, I would highly recommend the hotel.

Clean. nice family hotel.

Pros: I liked everything.
Cons: Just great the way it is.
Location: A bit farther to the Smithsonian than I might have liked but had I been younger would have been great.
Excellent breakfast and Happy Hour was very nice too. Quiet and would be a good place to take a family.

Great location, friendly staff

I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to DC. The staff was friendly and helpful and always greeted us when arriving or leaving. The free breakfast and supper was an added plus. I loved the room layout which has separate sleeping behind doors and sleeper sofa in front. Walking distance to everything.

Nice room but old couch in suite.

AC kind of old. Living room hard to cool at times. Good breakfast included with room and nice snack/dinner at nite. Sofa was very rough and scratchy. My wife had to put a sheet on it to sit on it. Internet $5 a day stinks. I would stay there again because of the breakfast. Kind of far from things. Had to take uber everywhere.

Great family hotel

Nice hotel interior. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful. Hotel is about 4 blocks north of the Metro train system, and 3 blocks from the Metro & Circulator bus stations. Multiple restaurant options and shopping all within a 3 block radius. The complimentary breakfast is usually very crowded, but there is an overflow seating area. Only con is no pool.

Very good hotel for families.

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet
Cons: free internet but very poor wi-fi signal., some worn out furniture.
Recently stayed here during our Labor Day Weekend trip to DC where we stayed at the Homewood Suites. There were 8 of us, so I got 2 suites, and the front desk was nice enough to accommodate my request to have the rooms next to each other. First off, parking at check-in is EXTREMELY tight! We had to practically park on the sidewalk. Also, the hotel parking garage was full by 5PM, so we had to park at another hotel parking garage down the street. Major inconvenience, especially traveling with a bunch of small children. Most definitely had to deduct some points for that! The check-in process was quick and smooth, and the front desk clerks were very friendly and helpful. Our rooms were nice. Perfect for families. The adults can watch what they want in the bedrooms, while the kids can watch their own shows in the living room. Major advantage in having 2 tv's. The furniture, namely the pull-out sofa, and chair were rather WORN OUT. Obviously, as you had previously stated, you're planning on doing a much needed furniture UPGRADE in the Fall. I'll have to see how it is then! Another issue I had was that air conditioner. Holy cow! When that thing turns on abruptly in the middle of the night, it's so loud, it sounds like an intruder is suddenly breaking into your room! Wow! And lastly, but certainly not least, the hotel's WI-FI was virtually useless. At night, you simply cannot log-on. Seems the only time the WI-FI is available is early in the morning. Breakfast buffet was good. The kids appreciate the hot offerings. Thankfully, we were downstairs by 7:15AM, just after they open at 7. By 8:00AM, it gets really crowded. By 8:30AM, forget finding a seat! Moral of the story, go close to the buffet's opening. Overall, solid hotel with a few minor gripes. Not REAL close to the Smithsonian Museums, but if the weather is nice, it makes for a great walk. Wear your walking shoes! Choose COMFORT over VANITY! You'll regret it if you choose the latter! Again, if you're traveling with kids, this might just do the trick! Cheers!

The hotel was well located, clean and with meals included

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet, free dinner with wine, central, rooms with dvd player and rentals downstairs
Cons: lack of second bathroom
The hotel was well located, and very friendly, it was perfect for what we wanted to do. We were doing a quick discover Washington tour with my family from abroad that were tight on budget so it was great that not only the rooms were not to expensive, but we had breakfast and dinner included with wine and beer !!!! The only "but" was that even if we has a "suite" the living room kitchen area didn't have a bathroom, so when u are 3 adults and 2 kids .. It takes some planning, to be able to get out to go see the sites !!! I would definitively stay there again...
