Clean and Comfy stay - very reasonable price!

I have been to the Forum 3 or 4 times, and slept comfortably. I don't get all the negative reviews. OK, the bathroom IS small, but the rooms are good-sized, the beds and atmosphere very restful. If you're really bothered by the fact that it once was a hospital, is run by unabashed Christians & doesn't allow drinking or smoking, this is the wrong place for you. If not, well, it's just a nice place. Electronic locks provide extra security, breakfast was good though not extravagant - everything you need. My husband is going to be very disappointed that it doesn't seem to be available for New Year's Eve. Sold out, I guess. So it looks like more people want a clean & clean-cut place than a grubby party hotel after all - lots of those left! This one is truly nice.

FrightNight

Cons: Nothing close, Noisy, Poor breakfast
I have stayed in different hotels and this one is the worst. It felt like an asylum when I entered and the room was like a jail cell. the shower was literally a shoe box. You couldn't lift your arms and do a turn with out hitting the walls. the smell was of a hospital stale and dingy.

Great choice for the money.

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
I stay at the Forum when I come to Ft Lauderdale on business. It's a clean, safe, well-maintained, no-frills hotel that provides a good nights sleep, clean atmosphere and a continental breakfast the next morning.

Nice Trip

I read the previous review and disagree completely. The hotel may be in a remodeled hospital, yet it is clean and the staff friendly. I have stayed at this hotel twice and my only complaint is the temperature. The individual room temperature cannot be increased, if you decide to stay here, request an extra blanket. Disregard the previous review. The religious nature of the hotel is not forced on the visitors. No one ever spoke of religion or focred their opinions on us when we stayed there. The staff is friendly and helpful. I will stay there again without question.

This hotel made me feel a little uncomfortable

Cons: No free Internet
Although the hotel is nice, since it appeared to be a converted senior living location it was uncomfortable. Great idea to help troubled individuals but having stipilation on beverages used at the location made it less desirable

A clean bed for the night

Pros: Free breakfast, Quiet
Cons: No free Internet, no pool, showers only
This lodging falls under the heading of, 'you get what you pay for', so please realize that this is not a 4-star hotel chain. What it is, is a clean building, conveniently located off of Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach, Florida, for a rate that is less than 1/3rd of anyplace else you will find in the area. Why is it so inexpensive? Because you are paying for a clean room and a warm bed without any frills or amenities. You won't get turndown service, there won't be a chocolate on your pillow, etc. The Forum was formerly a hospital that was renovated and changed into a hotel which caters to ministries of various denominations and beliefs. As a result there is a strict policy on no alcohol on the premises, but I found they did not proselytize, and it was not as uncomfortable for me (as an athiest) as I worried it might be. All in all, if you want a pool, fancy pillows, and posh surroundings, then head for one of the hotel chains or one of the motels on the beach. If your main goal is to save money while still getting a good night's rest, then this is the place for you.

The forum - Pompano Beach, FL

Let me see...how can I put this delicately?............. This place is a freaking DUMP! Aside from the fact that it is located in some weird South Florida mix of urban ghetto/industrial park and is at least 5 miles from any typical retailer or service that the average American traveler would ever use, the place is also a weird mix of Christian ministry/wellness center/kidney dialysis center/cheap motel and, get this.............It's located in some old hospital building that has been converted to all of the above! Read that again because it is NOT a misprint! What's worse is that our room was located in the old psychiatric ward with a bunch of locked rooms opening onto a central day room looking place and it is all under electronic lock and key..... Nurse Ratchet could have come walking through and I wouldn't have been the least bit surprised. The place is truly creepy beyond words; to say nothing of the fact that the accommodations are on a par with something like a Motel 6, without a pool. The shower (no bathtub) is about 4 square feet and it has some raggedy looking shower curtain hanging across the opening. No toiletries, cheap bath linens, worn out furniture and about 1/3rd the normal number of cable TV channels. They offer a "power breakfast" for guests but you have to "ask the desk clerk for the location"....like it's some sort of big secret or something. Frankly I would be afraid to eat the food or (drink the water) for fear that they might put something in the food to drug the diners so they can kidnap them and take them off to some Cristian cult indoctrination camp.

Would not stay here again.

Arrived the day prior to leaving for a cruise. Hotel is quite a distance from the airport and appeared to be a refurbished hospital. I chose this hotel because it was supposedly near the airport and had airport shuttle service - neither which are true. Definitely do not take a taxi. It would have been cheaper to rent a car. Also, there are no amenities in the immediate area. And to make matters worse, they gave me a room key to a room that was already occupied.

The Forum

I stayed @ this hotel for two nights in the first week of December. Very nice accomodations for the price. Good room, good service and a functional Fitness Center too. Conntinental Breakfast and free wireless internet service were definitely a plus alongwith the 3 star rating. Definitely a good buy! The no smoking policy is what attracted me to this hotel in the first place, and their no alcholol requirement is understood too, by virtue to it being a Christian facility.
