This hotel is quite rundown. The furniture is old and stained. Room key didn’t work all the time. Sheets were clean. Washcloths were stained. Breakfast was just ok. We received a small paper tag when we checked in that showed there would be two people eating breakfast. We were never asked to show the tag. While sitting there eating breakfast a man on a skateboard came in filled his pockets and took a cup of juice then walked out the door. I originally thought he was staying there till he skateboarded away. The young girl working the breakfast could NOT have confronted him safely. I’m assuming the homeless sneak in all the time. I’ve seen worse however I would not return to this hotel.

We stayed at the California Inn in Barstow, and honestly, it exceeded all expectations. Clean, quiet, and safe—which is all I really wanted—but it gave even more. The room was spacious, the bed was super comfortable, and the AC worked really well (a must in the desert heat). The staff was kind, check-in was easy, and it felt like they actually cared. You can tell they take pride in running a good place. It’s not fancy or flashy—it’s grounded, welcoming, and real. I travel a lot, and this is one of those rare spots that makes you feel settled, even if you're just passing through. Will definitely stay here again.

We won’t stay here again. Breakfast items all ran out and the desk clerk was desperately trying to get things done. There were no blankets on the bed and the air conditioning blasted cold air uncontrollably. We froze all night. If we turned it off we melted
