As most of you know I’m a travel blogger and I always give a property the benefit of the doubt. I arrived at this hotel excited to be in Venice. Was greeted by a not very friendly front desk clerk. I guess he thought he’d punish my enthusiasm by giving me the smallest, darkest room across from the breakfast room. Wow! Since the hotel was basically empty, I asked if I could get another room as I couldn’t fathom staying in this tiny little room for three days. With an attitude he said he’d move me for £50 a night. I felt like I had no choice, I bit the bullet and paid. Shocking that the hotel was basically empty and they couldn’t do a complimentary upgrade. Just bad business. The next day I asked one of the hotel staff for coffee. His response, “I’m busy. Ask downstairs at the front desk” and walked off. I actually laughed at the attitude he dished out. Also they make you leave your key at the front desk when you leave, so you are subject to their lack of kindness every time you come back to the hotel. The interiors of the rooms are not very chic… pretty rundown. And with the extra £50 I got a balcony with no furniture, not even a chair. Yikes. So hey Hotel A La Commedia, congratulations you broke my spirit in Venice. You bummed me out. Love Venice. Will try another property next time. I don’t recommend this place at all.

Great location near Rialto Bridge and close to the water taxi. We enjoyed staying here. The staff were lovely. The Christmas decorations were divine. The room was great. We had 2 triple rooms.

This is an amazing hotel and very central to everything. Very near the Rialto bridge and 5 minute walk from St Marks Square. Faultless very comfortable clean room. Staff very attentative. Excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay there again.

The stay was nice, the rooms was as pictured, the staff were friendly, the location was ideal to get to everything quickly. Sharing that we’re we staying on our honeymoon, we would have appreciated something beyond a box of crackers for a honeymoon amenity. We did leave a nice pair of socks in the room and reached the next day letting the property know, and they share they just throw them away. That was a bit of a turnoff as the value of an item to a guest didn’t seem to not matter at all to them in this situation.

This is an excellent Hotel. I was pleasantly surprised and truly enjoyed my stay there. It is centrally located, within easy walking distance to the Rialto Waterbus stations, which is ideal for travelers carrying bags. It was also easy walking distance to the major sightseeing locations in Venice. Very convenient. The room was immaculate, well taken care of and finely decorated. The bed and the bed sheets was very comfortable. I felt like I really got my money's worth by staying at this hotel.
