My Royal Suite was beautiful but there were no towels until I asked for some. One of the air con remotes didn’t work. The kettle lid wouldn’t close.
I chose to stay at this hotel purely and simply because of the room’s spa bath, so I was pretty annoyed on my first evening when I discovered the hot water to the bath wasn’t working. One of the staff tried to fill it with water from the shower using a bucket, but I had to settle for a cold shower.
The hot water situation was sorted out the following day when I got the General Manager to intervene but it felt like I’d spent my first 24 hours dealing with a problem and having multiple conversations about a bath rather than relaxing. It didn’t help that no one spoke much English.
Parking is tight. There’s no service door, so deliveries come in through the lobby. They were sorting out the linen on the lobby floor one day.
The pool is more of a splash pool. Only two loungers, with no shade.
There’s only one dining table which is shaded. The GM told me this is something which is being rectified. I was pretty disappointed with the breakfast offering. I’ve had far better in simple inexpensive hotels. Everything is done to a budget when it could be so much better without a great deal of cost or effort.
I asked to be compensated for the first night, but this was refused even though I didn’t get what I paid for. i was offered a meal costing around Rps1000.
Overall, there are far better options in Udaipur at this price point.
