Great location. We were there in Fall so did not ski. Very clean. Kitchen was fully stocked. Dog friendly. Bed in Master was awkward height for our age as seniors and not very comfortable.
We are a family of 5 and one dog. Kids ages are 13-20 and the house fit us all nicely. We had plenty of space to move around which was nice. We drove our 4 wheel drive SUV and there was no need for chains but you should be aware that getting up the mountain to the house sometimes requires chains. The neighborhood was very quiet and the neighbors we did meet were very kind. Lots of space out front and back to play with our dog and lots of neighbors walking their dogs made it a nice experience. What we found challenging and this is just our opinion but the master bedroom was very uncomfortable. The bed is incredibly high and there is a step ladder on one side only. I am 5’7 and the bed height Was at my waist. So I had to jump up to get into bed since I slept on the side without the step ladder which I found challenging in the middle of the night. The other issue for us was the mattress is very firm. It was painful for us to sleep on it and we had to sleep on the couch some nights. Both my husband and I are pretty fit and we skied everyday and needed a cozy bed to sleep in but that bed just wasn’t it for us. Like I said- it was just our opinion and our preferences. But overall the kids stated their beds were comfortable downstairs. One more thing that would have been nice was a welcome book or a paper that had instructions on how to turn the fireplace on , etc. took us a while to figure out that the garbage goes to the garage and not the bear boxes outside.

Great Mountain Stay
Great mountain cabin with all of the modern amenities. It’s a quick trip from the Bay Area and will definitely be visiting again.
There were a lot of cool features that I wish there was a “guide book” or “manual” for like I have seen in other rentals. ie how to operate the heated floors in the bathrooms and the electric fireplace in the master.
Overall a great experience.

Poorly maintained property with a broken window in the door held together with tape. The sidewalk and steps were not shoveled and I had to shovel in order to gain access to the home. The bottom floor rooms were freezing and poorly heated and the master bathroom water pressure is very low and you could not fill the bath tub

Falling Apart and Dirty
This property has great potential with the great layout and size of the cabin; however, the house was dirty and the place is a fire hazard! Below is a list of pros and cons. There was nothing relaxing about our weekend stay, because this house was frustrating. We will not rent here again.
Pros:
-Sledding hill off the deck stairs was awesome and there is plenty of snow play right out back; provided snow sled/shovel
-spacious main floor with lots of seating
-couch and chair are comfortable
-heated bathroom floors
Cons:
-FIRE HAZARDS EVERYWHERE! Curtains touching the baseboard heaters; beds pushed up against plugged in item; plugs; loose plugs not holding the plugs in...just to name a few
-there are no instructions for the house: all light switches were messed up, and it took us a good 30 minutes to make everything turn off with a switch
-there was dog hair everywhere: couches, chairs, blankets, bed pillows (we have a dog, so I am use to dog hair...this was excessive!)
-went to cook dinner after arriving, and found the kitchen stove and counters covered in grease, wine on counters, food on the dishes and pans, there was a TON of bread crumbs piled under the toaster...CLEARLY had not been cleaned!!!
-There aren't enough practical pots and pans made cooking a challenge for every meal
-The Kitchen needs to be organized! There is no rhyme or reason to the where things go, and they are too many unnecessary items. I had to move a bunch of items, just to put our food in the pantry area.
-utensils need to be replaced. Most were either burnt or had mold growing on them. Can opener didn't open cans. Had to go to town the next day and get my own useful items
-No foil, parchment paper, Syran wrap, or ziplock items
-No cleaning products to clean what should have already been cleaned before we got there.
-Too many decorative pillows everywhere, and there aren't usable bed pillows. They are all flat and had someone elses hair on them
-Upstairs master bed is a sleep number bed; not my style and really hard to find a comfortable setting.
-Downstairs is FREEZING!!! There are two bedrooms : 1 has a queen; the other has a queen and a twin. Our kids slept down there, and it was freezing. there was no way to make the room comfortable for them. Beds are hard as a rock.
-There are many broken fixtures: baseboards with nails off the wall; lights not working properly; loose tiles

Very nice property would stay again.
Everything was great, nicely updated. Was pretty clean, was a little worried because of previous reviews. Only complaint was that we showed up on time at 4pm( which i feel is a little late already) and the housekeeper was still cleaning and made us 1 hour late checking in. I drove several hours to get here to wait 🤨. Check out time is 10am so that would hive them 6 hours to clean so i don

Comfy cabin for summer fun
My family had a great time staying in this clean and well appointed property. The spacious great room is a great space to hang out, and the deck out back was a peaceful and shaded respite. The bedrooms had comfortable bedding. I was a little worried the the bed in the main bedroom was so high, but they provided a little step stool! A great addition since I'm only 5 ft tall.
We had great adventures hiking, climbing, and paddle boarding at nearly Donner Lake and it's just a short drive to Truckee restuaurants and shopping. We hope to be back soon!

Disappointed
When we arrived at 4:00 to check in, the code wasn’t working to open the door. I called for help and they gave me the same code I was given, but it still didn’t work. Someone else called me and let me know that the code was given completely and needed to use the check ✅button after entering the code. This worked but not always. Sometimes it took several times to get it to unlock. When we got in, we commented that the home seemed nice, but after getting comfortable we noticed several things. There was garbage left in kitchen garbage bins which included old stinky pizza. The kitchen faucet was so loose that when we turned on the water, the whole fixture turned to the side and felt like it was going to come off. Although the house looked clean otherwise, the pillows and curtains all seemed very old and the pillows were grimy, we found the frying pans we wanted to use were greasy and needed to be washed before used. The master bedroom had no pillows with clean pillow cases, only the decorator pillows were on the bed. We were not able to get the downstairs floor heaters to heat the downstairs bedrooms and it was very cold at night. The shower in the master bedroom was very difficult to regulate the water temp. It was either scalding hot or cold. Overall very disappointed and didn’t stay for the second night.

Really nice getaway.
This house is really nicely updated and great for a family. Love being able to have the dogs there. It’s near enough to town to get food etc but still away from things. Quiet neighborhood. Took a little bit to figure out various light switches etc but really comfortable.

Extremely disappointed: Home is dirty and in a state of disrepair
I have rented in Tahoe Donner 3 times and multiple times in other locations so I know what good looks like. Not only was this home and property dirty, but it was unsafe as well. Other peoples garbage was in various places around the house, which I had to clean. Dog poop bags & rubbish everywhere. Lower back deck full of the owners belongings made the deck unusable. I had to sweep the wooden decks and remove garbage left on the deck by someone else. None of these photos make it into the advertisement for this house, but I have my own photos. Plumbing in the downstairs bathroom did not work properly when we arrived, and not all the lights in the home worked. Ceiling light fixture fell out of the ceiling in one of the downstairs bedrooms, which could have injured my son. A weak person can push the front door window in and easily unlock the door to "break into" the home. The kitchen sink faucet leaked. The list goes on and on. Also, the lot across the street was clear cut for a new home so we got to listen to chainsaws and heavy equipment. Also wildfire smoke started 2 weeks into our 3 week vacation, which is not the owners fault but made the trip that much more unpleasant. We left a week early and are still waiting for the property manager to make things right for us, but slow/no response from the property manager. Do not stay here unless you are looking for substandard living at a high price.

Nice home and location. Entry instructions were lacking. Driveway was very icy, but inside was nice. Home was well provisioned so we could cook our meals. Easy access to areas in and around Tahoe and Donner Pass.

We can pretty much deal and accept a lot of things when it comes to renting but property not being clean is not acceptable. We found crackers and used Q tips on the nightstand, Barbecue was dirty and not cleaned in a while and unfortunately not all the bedding was washed.
I drove to Reno to buy our own bedding.
