The next patron next to me was noisy rooms above air conditioning units noise all night paid over $500 for noise and room had no extras had to give an extra $100 for what?? Will not recommend. Annoyed with what I got for the money paid

I have stayed at the Oaks Gateway Townsville several times before and have always been impressed with the standard of service, quality of accommodation and location. This was my first time in a studio apartment and I was not disappointed. The room was spacious, in very good condition and had a fabulous outlook. Customer service is always a priority and nothing is too much trouble for Steven and Jamie on Reception. There are numerous dining options on Palmer Street and getting into the City Centre is a short and pleasant walk. I don't stay anywhere else when visiting Townsville.

Room in need of refurbishment and a good clean. Lifts were out due to flooding in basement, and whilst I accept this was beyond their control due to weather, there was no communication about the outage or offer of help carrying bags up the stairs.

Location was good - we could drive everywhere we wanted to go and be there within 5 minutes. The unit is in need of new furniture. The pullout couch was disgusting and very uncomfortable. One of the cushions clearly had something spilled on it that took up the entire cushion but instead of cleaning the cushion, it was just flipped over! The chairs are all in disrepair and when we went to use the 'clean' dishes and there was food caked on the bowls too. The rest of the property was very clean though and quite nice.

Rooms were false advertised, using pictures from there best room as their worst, when asked the clerk, he was not helpful one bit. Also after charging money for late check out, the cleaners banging on the door at 8:30 and yelling out.

Another Great Stay

This is our second stay at Oaks Townsville and we enjoyed it immensely. On both occasions, the front desk staff have been extremely friendly and welcoming, and on both occasions we have received room upgrades which we really appreciated. Our one-bedroom was beautiful - freshly renovated and decorated and had a lovely big balcony. The infinite pool was so inviting after a day of hot weather, and has a great outlook on the river. The public areas of the building could do with a bit of sprucing up (eg fresh paint in the corridors), and I am unsure whether we were supposed to receive full housekeeping in our apartment as our bins were emptied but our bed wasn't made and our towels weren't changed, but the public areas and outdoor area were very clean and tidy. We also appreciate the on-site car parking and the location, which is so close to bars and restaurants, and the stadium.

In Far North Queensland I like Townsville best of all. It has full facilities and a nice open feel. The Oaks overlooking the River is perfect for a relaxing getaway. I couldn't fault it.
