Lovely location limited indoor views

Kames and the property are ideal for cycling and kayaking. Views from inside are limited but outside chairs are comfortable. Limited storage and small fridge but clean and comfortable with lots of great eating places not far away.

Short Break

Spent 4 nights at Pier Cottage, Kames. Although small, it had everything that we required and was ideal for our needs. The location is second to none. The owner Eileen was on hand for any advice and quickly sorted any minor issues. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Beautiful location

I had wonderful weather and the hosts could not have been more helpful. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. Only 2 criticisms: the mirror in the bathroom should be a few inches lower. I am 5ft 2 inches and could only see the top of my head and pepper and salt would be very nice.

Wonderful waterside stay

Had a great couple of nights chilling out - just me and my grown up son. Lovely place, awesome location. All you need. So peaceful and calm. Fire on the beach at night. Recommend popping into the FIVE WEST cafe in Tighnabruich. There's also a scruffy looking hotel that does quality meals. Wee charity and antique shop too.

Nice cottage.

This was a nice cottage but the beds were very uncomfortable. The mattress was thin and felt like you were sleeping on the metal. I was not comfortable here and did not stay the entire time that I booked for.

Another great holiday

This is our third time in Pier Cottage on the stunning Kyles of Bute. We regard this place as our home from home. The historic building is comfortable, the owners are very accommodating and the situation on the beach is idyllic. Can’t wait to return.

The short break we had was what we expected and more due to the location of the accommodation

The position of the accommodation near the beach and location of the Kames hotel was perfect for our us . From the we visited other places of interest such as Rothsay and Dunoon . The owners Mr and Mrs duff were especially helpful during our stay The weather was an added bonus and the view accross the Kyles of Bute were fantastic

Not Really As Expected

The cottage itself was certainly nice, but unfortunately, while the overall appearance was fine, facilities offered in the cottage were disappointing. In the Kitchen, there was no oven, just a microwave and an induction hob. We had brought food with us that we were therefore unable to cook and some of this subsequently had to be disposed of. We expected to eat out sometimes but not every day! Suggest removing microwave and replace with an oven/grill/microwave unit. There was no space provided for food at all. We had brought nearly all the food we anticipated needing but could only store this by making space on the shelves provided for kitchenware. Suggest that a cupboard is put on the outside wall – wouldn’t need to be very large. The fridge was very small and could not possibly have held sufficient for four people. Very small freezer compartment. There are two bunk beds and a sofa bed provided (for four). However, in our opinion the cottage was far too small to even consider putting four people in, especially if that included young children. Also there was no provision for storing clothes, other than a hanger for suitable items. There needed to be a chest of drawers and a wardrobe for which there was sufficient space if the hanger were removed. Further, the sofa bed blocked the single heater and absorbed a good deal of the available heat. Suggest getting rid of bunk beds and provide adequate space for just two people. Finally, the bathroom sink is only a hand basin and not large enough to wash in. It would clearly benefit from a shelf on either wall and a holder in the shower for shampoo/shower gel. It did strike us that an opportunity had been missed when this cottage was re-built. The window side of the cottage looks out onto the loch, but there are just two small windows to view out. The double doors on the other side look out to a white wall. Pity they weren’t reversed.

A great location for a short break

Pier Cottage is an excellent bijou beach hut with great views of the Kyles of Bute. With a garden integral to the beach but roped off to discourage public access it is possible to spend many happy hours relaxing and enjoying the view. It is equipped to sleep 4 people but is most suitrd to a couple. Its cleanliness is second to none and the kitchen area is very well equipped. The shower room was also modern and spotless. A really excellent place to relax from the hustle and bustle of normal life.

Pier Cottage

Found Pier Cottage very bijou, furnishings and decor lovely, everything there needed for our stay, personally for us did'nt find the sofa bed either comfy for sitting or sleeping on, and also missed not having an oven, on opening the bed linen package found that the fitted sheet was already torn away at the corners obviuosly previous guests had tried to fit the sheet to the bed which they could'nt, also the mattress protector did'nt fit either, on meeting with the owner Eileen who was lovely I mentioned about the linen and she said she would sort the problem out, even offering us a new sheet if we so wished, apart from these few niggles really enjoyed our four night stay here apart from the really cold weather last week which can't be helped, although did manage to sit on the decking one day with a book and glass of bubbles looking at the incredible views we had
