LOCATION AND LOCAL ACTIVITIES AND FACILITIES:

Located at the tip of the Matua Peninsula, this is a great place to get away into the fresh coastal air and relax to the sound of the local birdlife - tuis, swans, herons, ducks and Canadian Geese from the nearby Matua Salt-marsh Estuary and Wildlife Reserve which is crisscrossed with boardwalks, cycleways and walking tracks (within an easy 10 minute walking distance). A short 2 minute walk to the bus stop; a 10 minute walk to the beautiful beach at Fergusson Park, with walking and cycling tracks, swimming, water sports, etc, close to shopping areas and supermarkets - Woolworths 4.1 km, New World (our favourite) 5.6 km, and Cherrywood Village with eateries and a great Four Square 3 km.

All water sports including kayaking, swimming, kite surfing, and cycling and picnicking await you a couple of minutes drive down at Fergusson Park. Five minutes further down the road is a 9-hole golf course close to an inner-harbour walkway with boardwalks and bush walks.

Another 10 minutes will take you to the beautiful surf beaches and cafes of fabulous Mount Maunganui, where you have a choice of gentle, safe swimming on the port-side at Pilot Bay, or enjoying the well-patrolled, famous surf beach.
