The staff are working hard and nice enough but they are working at a much higher standard than the hotel itself. The communal areas are nice enough (although quite a bit of grubby upholstery around and the foam on the chairs feels like you're sat on a brick). There are some nice touches for the kids, like a play area in the main lobby and tokens given to kids on arrival for them to exchange for a variety of things. Also, another nice touch is the kids crockery available at breakfast and kids eat free for the restaurant. The food in the restaurant isn't bad, it's an easy, pretty consistent option. The bit that lets this place down is the rooms themselves, threadbare carpets, mould in the showers and a sofa bed that will make you question your life choices at 3am as you try and get comfortable for the 1000th time that night. We were just stopping for a few nights and it was ok for that purpose, if the rooms were better, we may even consider it a good base to explore the area as all the other aspects were decent enough. I feel for the manager and the staff a bit, who were very helpful and are being let down by a lack of investment in the rooms

Friendly staff and my son got a token that he used to get a hot chocolate before bed. He liked the panda box that he put the token in. Room was very comfortable. A few toiletries in bathroom would have been handy. No air con working in our room but we were advised of this on arrival and offered alternative on ground floor if we preferred. Nice reception and dining area. We enjoyed the pastries at breakfast.

good family hotel for a stopover

Lovely stay. clean and fairly new bathroom. matress wasnt the comfiest and sofa bed for kids was very thin. but room was a good size with good facilities. no safe box. very family friendly with kids play area in reception, nice touch with a free drink & snack in the bar. good breakfast. only downside, we booked a swim session in the morning only to be told 1.5hr later when we went to go in, that the pool was booked for a class. disappointed the kids!

Great stop and location

Lovely stop on the way to Cornwall. Spacious hotel, quiet and the swimming pool was an excellent little distraction for the little one who loved it after a long drive. Good location and close to the motorway!

Great hotel - a destination in itself

We stayed at this hotel as it’s well located for a stop off on the way to Cornwall. It’s very nice inside with contemporary decor and very comfortable rooms. Nice modern shower room. A bonus is the great buffet breakfast with lots of choices available - particularly enjoyed the excellent croissants and pain au chocolat. One key driver in ys choosing to stay here was the fact it has an indoor swimming pool. The pool itself is lovely although some may find the water temperature a tad too warm. The changing rooms are very nice, and, importantly really clean, with toiletries in the showers. Needless to stay we all enjoyed our stay and felt that our holiday had already begun which wouldn’t have been the case had we instead stopped off at a cheaper but less well-appointed travel inn.
