Very disappointing and poorly managed booking. We had reserved two rooms for New Year’s Eve, and Expedia showed our booking as fully confirmed the day before arrival. Despite this, the hotel contacted us one day before check-in claiming that one of our rooms had been cancelled two weeks earlier, which was completely false and unsupported by Expedia’s records. When we arrived, it became clear this was not an isolated issue — another guest was also left without a room due to double booking. Because it was New Year’s and the city was fully booked, we had no option but to accept being crammed into one room (5 adults). Despite the situation being entirely the hotel’s fault, management refused to offer any rebate or compensation. The whole experience felt dishonest and extremely unprofessional. I would not recommend this hotel, especially during peak periods.

Rooms were great! AC worked amazingly. Margie at the front desk was so helpful with luggage storage and making us feel comfortable. The pool was great and there is an outdoor shower. Breakfast was unreal, many options with the traditional breakfast and coffee was great too! Would recommend to anyone looking for a cheeper stay in Tamarindo with easy access to the beach and downtown.

Safe clean resort with private rooms a nice pool, gym, games area, bicycle to use. Breakfast served around the pool each morning with fresh fruit, cereals, coffee, eggs and toast all included in the price. Would stay here again.

The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Don’t be afraid to approach them and ask for what you need. My only area for improvement would be the water pressure in the shower could be better but still accomplished the task.

Good location, clean pool, nice people around and amenities and close to the beach. However a few things would make this property better: wifi connection (dropping sometimes and not quite available in the room), darker blinds (room is so bright) and breakfast (although super basic it’s still ok, but once the coffee dispenser is empty, it’s not filled up - even if it’s within the breakfast hours). Cheers!

Love everything about this stay!

I've stayed at Hotel Luna Llena twice since 2024, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite spots in Tamarindo. This charming little oasis tucked into the jungle offers a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere just a short walk from the beach and everything the town has to offer. The included breakfast is simple but satisfying, with delicious coffee and my personal favorite—the pancakes! On my most recent visit, I stayed in one of the bungalow rooms, which featured a cozy, round design and a small kitchenette that came in handy. The property is clean, quiet, and beautifully maintained—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. I’ll definitely be coming back! The pool is focal point and just wonderful to float around in.

Perfect location

The location is perfect: a short walk to the beach and restaurants, and yet in a quiet street with birds and monkeys in the trees. The pool is a bit odd, but eventually we got used to it. The room was very good. Breakfast good

This place was a little gem to stay at. The bed was fairly hard to sleep on but everything else was very clean and the amenities offered were awesome. They did offer breakfast and we did end up sick afterwards, not sure if it was just an off day but we didn’t eat the breakfast again after that.
