Casa de Eu is a one-room efficiency on the third floor of an apartment building in the heart of Ortigia. It is in a central location and is easy to find and pleasant to navigate to by foot- although a taxi from the bust station in Siracuse is advisable. There is no elevator. Although the listing indicates a beach and hot tub, along with a sea view, we could see the ocean from tip toes peeking over a rooftop parapet—not from the room. The rooftop is accessed via a metal spiral staircase in the corner of the room and has a table to sit and have a picnic. There are two windows looking out to a small light well between buildings- providing good natural light. The bathroom is built of translucent glass and is easily placed within the one room unit corner, nestled within the bed area and next to the kitchenette. The proprietor was attentive at the time of check in, even sending someone to let us in as we arrived a little later. She even carried my suitcase upstairs for me. We had a wonderful visit to Ortigia.
