The beds were wonderfully comfortable, and the fans and unit were very clean and well-suited for a short stay. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. While pets are allowed, I wouldn’t describe the accommodation as truly pet-friendly. There was no enclosed outdoor area for pets, which meant my granddaughter had to walk her dog a few houses down to a grassy, tree-lined corner for toileting, both in the morning and evening. The front door opens directly onto a road, and the space felt quite enclosed. The name of the property suggests a retreat, but it’s more accurately rooms built underneath a house. We could hear footsteps from the stairs above the bedroom, and there wasn’t a view or the sense of quiet one might expect from a retreat. Parking was available out front, but exiting required backing into traffic, which felt a bit tricky.Overall recommend it for non pet travelers wanting a comfortable bed for the night.
