We stayed here about 25 years ago and loved it. This time it is very dated and kind of run down. Holes on the lampshade, peeling paint in the halls. The staff was very friendly though, and the pool is still nice.

We chose this hotel after seeing the pictures on hotels.com and thought it would be a nice change from our usual choice of the Hilton. Mistake! The pool closes at 9 and doesn’t open until 10. There was hair on my sheets and the bathroom wasn’t cleaned well. The hallway where our room was has a strange smell that reminded us of a barn and animals. The curtain was broken so it didn’t close all the way which was very uncomfortable since the curtain covers a patio door leading to the pool area.

The inside the lobby area is nice. The carpet in the hallways and in the rooms have a little bit of a smell to them. I was reasonably comfortable and I don't have a whole lot to complain about except that I wish that I had asked for a room on the exterior of the hotel because I wasn't swimming and all but could hear people in the interior of the resort in the pool and people going by with their luggage carts on the brick floors. It would've been quieter if I'd ask for an external room with simply a view of the lake. They didn't have the restaurant open inside either. The staff was nice enough. And mostly I was comfortable. But I would ask for a different room next time. Mainly because I like quiet and I wasn't swimming in the pool.

I liked the lake view. As for the room it had a very bad odor. I had to buy candles and air freshner. The bed was very uncomfortable. The furniture was old and smelt like it also. Not 1 person asked how my stay was or if we needed anything. I would not recommend this hotel or stay there again.

The door did not lock or have a safety latch and my 3 year old son was able to run out of the room at random. The first time realizing this, i broke my foot chasing home down the hall. I was refused another room for safety concerns and eventually used heavy furniture to block the door. There were cracks in the walls, the double rooms and bathrooms were very tiny. There is no dining or breakfast offered. And the pool/beach that was featured was filled in with concrete. I paid extra for the double queen deluxe suite and was downgraded due to lack of room available. I was charged $20 for a cot resulting in my overall total for my stay of about $200. I also had mystery charges for things i had not requested for my room.

Sturbridge host? No thank you.

This was marketed as the “executive suite” when I got there they said I have the “mini suite” There was no balcony, the “mini suite” was just a large king bed with a couch and two TVs. I said again that I was “excited to see what the executive suite was.” But, they just looked confused and said I booked the mini suite. I showed them my reservation, and then they gave me my room keys. The hotel is very old, not up to date with many of the hotels I usually stay in. I will most likely be staying elsewhere each year when I make a business trip to Sturbridge. I’m mostly disappointed that I spent extra money on a “executive suite” only to get a slightly larger king size room. No microwave, no fridge, and the faint smell of an old building. 4/10. Wouldn’t stay again.
