Cabin #8 - The Shadows

One late afternoon, just as we were closing for the day, a small, skinny black cat appeared — wandering quietly and keeping to the shadows. It wasn't the first time we had seen this timid little visitor, and it was clear he needed more than just a passing glance.
Buck decided it was time this lonely creature had a real home. He was gently rescued, cared for, bathed, fed, and finally given a name: Shadow. Though he was with us only a short while, his gentle spirit and quiet presence left an imprint on our hearts that will never fade.
In his honor, we dedicated CABIN #8 — THE SHADOWS so that his memory would always remain part of Lydia Mountain. This cabin reflects the peaceful, comforting refuge he found here — a place of warmth, safety, and belonging.
Though Shadow is no longer with us, his story lives on in this special retreat. May all who stay here experience the same sense of calm, comfort, and quiet companionship that he brought into our lives.
Welcome to THE SHADOWS — Cabin #8, a heartfelt tribute to a small soul who made a very big difference.

The best of the all cabins!

We have stayed here before and have appreciated its simplicity. It is perfect to run to when you need some R&R. The cabin and the jacuzzi is always clean and ready for our arrival!

Cozy cabin

This is a sweet cabin nestled in the woods. You will sleep like a baby in the "shadow" of the trees. It is so quiet and peaceful.

Perfect!

The best word to describe our stay is “perfect!” We were so pleased to arrive and find everything just as great as the pictures. Check in (and out) was so easy, the hot tub was clean, the cabin was clean and comfortable and the view was beautiful! We enjoyed every bit of our stay and will definitely be returning.

Our Stay was perfect

We really enjoyed our stay at Lydia. We felt you dealt with the power outage quickly and effectively. We were grateful for that - and the clean and welcoming cabin. The only suggestion I have is a grab bar by the toilet as it is very low. We enjoyed the food at the lodge and the staff were very kind and helpful.

Nice little get away

We stayed two nights for a cute, rustic wedding weekend. Cabin was so cute and peaceful. We enjoyed the hot tub and fireplace. Bed was creaky and a bit uncomfortable, but it had everything you need for a fun little getaway. Just make sure you bring all necessities, i.e., hand soap, toiletries, etc. as there isn't anything around for miles. We would definitely return!

Peaceful

I wanted to get away from it all for a little bit, and this cabin definitely felt right. I went for the 4th of July weekend, so the trees were full preventing you from really seeing any of the other cabins, but I'm sure you could in winter. The cabin itself was perfect, all you need is yourself and food, although Bearrr Appétit is lovely with great views of the mountains, and good food, decently priced as well. I highly recommend The Shadows.

Very disappointed

We were moved from cabin 5 to 8 at the last minute which I didn’t mind. When we arrived the porch was extremely dirty and there were so many nails sticking up I was unable to have my dog walk up for fear of injury. After someone came to bang the nails in the cabin itself was not clean. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher. The window sills were full of bugs and there was mouse droppings on the floor and on top of the refrigerator. The light over the sink was broken. The floor throughout was very dirty. It didn’t look like any cleaning had been done at all. The yard had trash all around. I was very disappointed as it was my daughter’s wedding. I did not say anything at the time because I didn’t want to upset her and risk anyone saying anything to her. My family spent thousands of dollars on cabin and lodge rentals and the Pavilion rental. The pavilion was not cleaned when we arrived. The floor was full of dirt and leaves and there was dirt hanging off the fans. The person who was sent to clean used a leaf blower on the floor which only added work for us as we then had to wipe down all the tables, chairs and bar area. I was looking for to a wonderful weekend with my family and friends and it was anything but that.
