Expected so much more

Room; main door broken, balcony door unlockable, air conditioning inoperative, floor surface lifting and damp,lighting units inoperative, curtains threadbare and torn, blown double glazed units in balcony's doors. Restaurant; like a building site with unfinished ceiling throughout, exposed wiring and air-conditioning ducts, cheap,noisy furnishing. Lifts; 1 serviceable lift servicing 400 plus rooms on 7 floors, that got stuck 3 times, old lift shaft covered by plywood nailed to wall. Security; local youths accessing hotel grounds by climbing over wall unchallenged, had to constantly watch possessions whilst in pool.

amazing breakfast options including gluten free , cooked, sweet pastries and lovely staff all round - specifically a friendly chef in the restaurant area who advised of us places to go (unfortunately can’t remember his name!) They let us check in earlier and prioritised our room getting cleaned to do so. Also stored our luggage for early check in and also on our last day which was super helpful and convenient. They provide towels for sunbeds and cleaning/ room service was spotless no issues. The only issue we ran into was our room door wouldn’t lock but they fixed this very quickly on the same day. Also there’s a safe in the rooms for valuables. The rooms and beds are large and great size balcony comes with a mini fridge. The only feedback I’d say is the bottom of our bathroom door was water damaged from where water leaks out from the walk in shower, so it didn’t close properly! But apart from that the bathroom was great, towels can be replaced daily and no major concerns :)

The 1 start review is for the Manager on duty, between Aug 20th and Aug 22nd, 2025, when I stayed here. I checked in around 14:00, and as a Expedia Platinum member for years, I thought I get some good service and a good room, which most hotels I stay at around the world provides. But no, not here. I got a room on the first floor right above the lobby facing the street where the taxis drop off. Tried to take a late afternoon nap because I was jet lagged but couldn't due to the noice. Went down to request a room change from the front desk staff, I asked to speak to the manager. The manager refused to come out to speak to me. I went 3 times that same day, to request another room and to speak to the manger, each time, the staff went to the back office and came back, the manager was busy. Also did the same on the second day, Aug 21st, but no, the manager too busy. Absolute terrible customer service. If the manager doesn't dare to face its paying customers, perhaps the hospitality industry is not for you. I hope your boss will read this and send you back to the mailroom where you belong. For the room, they are old, cheap small sheets that don't even cover the bed, so you wake up touching the old mattress. Super old wooden closet, where the door was broken. The pool is nice, the restaurant food was very basic and bland without flavor. Big plus however for a very impressive breakfast buffet. The hotel is in a good area, also a good plus. Honest review this.

Breakfast choices are plenty and food is good. Staffs are very helpful. Room is clean. The best part for our stay is you can comfortably lounging around by the swimming pool all day, and have a dip into the sea whenever you like.

Lovely hotel in a quieter part of St Julian’s but still a walking distance to all the amenities, restaurants cafes and shops. Our room had an amazing view over the marina which is part of Portomaso area (highly recommend visiting). We had a refurbished room on 6th floor which was spacious and cleaned daily apart from the first couple of days when cleaning was not done and we had to ask the cleaning ladies to give us fresh towels and empty the bins (not sure what the initial issue was but once sorted room was always cleaned). Breakfast was lovely with lots of options for cold and hot meals including a selection of fruit and pastries which they used to change every day or so. Also there was a chef making omelets with different fillings on request. Reception staff was very helpful and friendly, gave us tips and suggestions. The lifts are super hot and small so sometimes you need to wait for another one as it was already packed. The views from the pool area over the bay were great and my son also enjoyed swimming in the indoor pool a lot as the main pool outside had salty sea water which irritated his skin. We had a couple of noisy smoking music playing neighbours on our floor but that’s not the hotels fault as this area attracts many young visitors who come to Julian’s to experience it’s night life and come back to their rooms in early hours feeling merry. If you want a really quiet break I would not recommend staying here. Overall a great hotel, would stay again!

I had a lively stay at this hotel. Room was beautiful and modern and very spacious which was great. Pool could use an update. Restaurants and cafes in hotel were also great. I personally prefer Sliema to stay in Malta as it is a bit quieter. If you are looking to be in amongst the night life this is a great place to stay as it is in the heart of st Julian’s

Stayed for a week end of June Very happy with hotel and facilities lovely breakfast recommend the bar meals. Didn’t eat in the restaurant. As we were only bed and breakfast. It was the Quieter part of st Julian Bay close to a few good restaurants . Lovely waking up looking out over the bay. We would definitely go back

The property is fine and with great views across the bay. The main disappointment is how basic the room was. There was no bedside furniture so watches, glasses, phones etc had to sit on the floor. The wardrobes were open with no doors and one side of it even had no shelves or rail so was useless for anything. Even the bathroom had nowhere to put the soap other than leave it in the sink. The large shower cubicle with the open end looked trendyuntil you used it and the water slowly flooded the room. We then realised why the bottom of the bathroom door was black and warped! Definitely at best a three star hotel.

Hotel is definetly not a 4 star standard, food is very bland, cleaning is quite a poor standard depending who is on shift, sometimes cleaner would fold your dirty towel!! I do belive hotel would be great once small changes are made and refurbishment is undertaken. The location is great on the other side! Close to nighlife and many restaurants, Silema is great you can get there by walking down the shore or getting a 10 min cab, definetly visit Hugo lounge for food and drinks!! Miam!!
