Desk clerk said we were not welcome at the hotel because we have a child with disabilities and his service animal. We booked online and arrived after a long day of travel. The desk clerk said that we were not welcome at the hotel because we have a dog. I explained that it is a trained service animal and access is protected under state and federal law. He allowed us to stay for the night but told me that in the future we need to stay somewhere else. He acknowledged that it wasn’t fair, but that is hotel policy. The rest of the staff was respectful and kind, including when they went with me to inspect the room before checkout. One staff member confided that if guests call for reservations and have a service animal they are told to send the guests to other hotels.
