Huge ski resort. Too much for one mature couple.

Pros: Liked the staff in the clothing store. We enjoyed the drive through the Smugglers Notch State Park.
Cons: It's not a bad place, just not our cup of tea.
Location: Stowe & Waterbury are just over the "Notch."
We thought we had booked a cabin. It was a two-story townhouse. Bedroom upstairs, bathroom down. Also the bed was placed so that on one side you hit your head on the slanted ceiling on the other side it was two feet from the stairs. The kitchen was very nice but we didn't use it. It does have a stack washer/dryer combo that I did use. The television did not work. We asked for someone to check it out, but no one ever came. There were a couple restaurants on site. We had breakfast at the more casual one. It was good. Dinner was just okay. Not the kind of place we had in mind for a couple of nights on our leaf-peeping trip. Disappointing.

Stay at Smuggler's Notch resort

We booked our stay at the resort as an afterthought and were very happy with the result. First off, it was in a great location for fall foliage season and our daytrip to Burlington. The resort also bumped us up to a 2 bedroom suite, which was a good gesture but unnecessary as we didn't have our kids with us. Our expectations for the on site restaurants were not that high but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of our meals. Convenient on site variety store, Outdated but spacioujs suite, great location, friendly staff, we'll be back with our kids.
